E. Nosov, "The Living Flame" - a short summary of the story

Nosov EI belongs to the number of writers-front-line soldiers. Eighteen-year-old boy, he went to war, participated in large-scale battles, was wounded. Until the end of life, Eugene Ivanovich could not forget the horrors of the experience. "It's in our memory," he wrote years later. He knew very well the price of the victory achieved by the people in the most bloody war. And let him write about it a little, every created work is permeated with pain for those who sacrificed their lives for the salvation of their native country, who orphaned and knew the terrible reality ahead of time.

The past and the present united in a small narrative about seemingly ordinary garden colors - poppies, reminiscent of their flowering, as E. Nosov emphasizes, a living flame.

Brief narrative of the story: tie

The plot of the work is simple and at first sight has nothing to do with the war. The writer, who is also a narrator, takes pictures of a young woman, Aunt Olya, who is no longer young. She lives in a quiet old house, keeping the memory of her son. And his room was preserved in the form in which he was with the master.

In the spring, Aunt Olya was about to sow a flower bed under the window. She took from the bags and nodules the seeds of flowers-aristocrats, pleasing the eye with their beauty throughout the summer. On the writer's question about why she does not sow the poppies, she replied that the use of them is not enough. They do not bloom for long: they will open buds only for a couple of days and then fall off. Only "kolotushki" from them remain, which all kind spoil. But the narrator still siped secretly from the hostess a pinch of poppy seeds in the center of the flowerbed. So begins Nosov's "Living Flame". The summary of the story leads the reader to the main storyline, whose actor is an ordinary "vegetable" - as Poppy calls the poppy at the beginning of the narrative.

Culmination

Time passed. Seeds sprouted, and soon the flowerbed should have bloomed with a wild color. The writer had to leave for a couple of weeks. After returning he did not recognize the garden. The expanded flowers transformed the flower bed beyond recognition. It seemed nothing more beautiful than this picture with Mattioli, pansies, lion's eyes and other overseas guests can not be. And in the center of the flowerbed, among the lush beauties and solid green rugs, threw out three buds of poppies. So continues the story of Nosov.

"Living flame" appeared on the flowerbed the next morning, when the poppies had blossomed. This day was a real discovery for Aunt Oli and her guest. Bright, fresh petals of flowers eclipsed by their splendor all "noble" neighbors. They blinded their eyes and burned for two days, and the next evening they fell as quickly as they blossomed. And everything around him at once orphaned and faded ...

A short but bright life

It is amazing to describe the flowering of poppies EI Nosov. "Living flame" is the name chosen for the story not by accident. The bright flowers of blossoming and swinging poppies really resembled a lit torch. Two days they flared up on the flower-bed "with a trembling-bright fire", then suddenly "poured a thick purple." There was an impression that it was worth touching them, and they would burn their hands. A great semantic load in this respect is born by verbs: first they were flamed, then they crumbled and went out.

The contrasting description of the "flower aristocracy" and ordinary poppies helps the author to emphasize the insignificance of the former and the strength, the greatness of the latter.

Life is short, "but lived without care"

The petals fell out - and Aunt Olya, standing by the flower bed, suddenly all hunched up and with the words "and people so happens" immediately hurried to leave. She remembered the son who died in the war, the pain of which she never left. This brings the reader to the main idea of E. Nosov's work. "Living flame", the summary of which in fact is not limited only to the description of the history of poppies, also tells of the heroic deed of a simple warrior, the readiness to sacrifice himself for others. This was the son of the heroine, military pilot Alexei. His life was cut short in the prime of life when he bravely entered the battle with the enemy bomber in his tiny hawk. A very short but heroic life. Such as many defenders of the fatherland had in the war years.

Final of the story

Soon the writer moved out of the apartment. But he often visited Aunt Olya, in the garden of which every summer there was a big carpet of poppies. Every time the amazing picture was opened to the guest. In place of the crumbling flowers rose all the new buds, which soon lit their petals, not letting go to this eternal fire. Thus, Eugene Nosov completes his work. A living flame of flowers symbolizes human memory in it. For Aunt Olya it is the memory of her dead son. For all residents of the country, this is the preservation of the names of millions of people who have given themselves at different times to a great goal - victory over the enemy and the liberation of the Motherland. This is the solid moral foundation on which all mankind holds.

Image of the war in the story

In the work of Nosov EI does not give descriptions of battles, bombardments and other heroic scenes. However, several of the proposals that talk about Alexey are enough to understand the feelings of the mother, who is simultaneously bitter about losing her only son and pride in him.

Live for the benefit of others. Do not be afraid of difficulties and boldly go ahead. Make it so that your own life does not become for others simply faceless existence. This makes the reader think about E. Nosov ("The Living Flame").

The brief content of the story can be laid down in several lines from the poem by E. Akimova: "And the memory of the past in the soul of the earth burns like that fire in the grass from poppies scarlet" - an eternal reminder of the experience, which in no case must be forgotten. This is what the skill of this artist is.
