"Bat", operetta: summary and reviews

"Bat" - an operetta written by Johann Strauss in the 19th century. At the heart of her story are two works - the farce "Prison imprisonment" by Julius Benedics and the French vaudeville "New Year's Eve" by Louis Halevy and Henri Meillac. The "bat" does not descend from the scenes of the world musical theaters to this day.

History of creation and actors

"Bat" - an operetta, a brief summary of which will be presented in this article, was written by Johann Strauss in 1874, commissioned by the director of the Vienna An Der Wien Theater, M. Steiner. He also offered the composer a libretto. I. Strauss came to like a witty, festive and funny story. The composer wrote an operetta in six weeks. In April 1874, the premiere of the performance took place. At first the operetta was not very popular, although it entered the repertory plans of all theaters in Vienna for many years.

The triumph of the "Bat" took place in 20 years, when the version appeared on the stage edited by Gustav Mahler.

J. Strauss

As already mentioned above, in 1874 was written "Bat". The author of the operetta (or rather of music to her) is Johann Strauss, Jr.. This is a great Austrian composer, who is rightly considered the king of the Viennese waltz.

He was born in 1825. His father and two brothers were also well-known songwriters.

Father Johann dreamed that his son became a banker, he did not allow the boy to study music. To play the violin I. Strauss studied secretly. Mother supported her son.

In 1844 Johann graduated from music studies and petitioned the magistrate to be given the right to conduct.

Johann Strauss Sr. envied the success of his son and for a long time, using his influence, did not allow him to prestigious events. But justice finally triumphed, and talent was noticed.

During the tour with his orchestra in Russia, Johann fell in love with a Russian girl. But her parents were against marriage with a foreigner. When J. Strauss learned that his beloved was married, he married. His wife was an opera singer. She externally was very similar to the Russian love of the composer.

The wife became Johann not only a faithful companion of life with which he was happy, but his impresario.

After the death of Yettie, the composer was married twice.

The first act

In the first act, the Eisenstein House presents us with the "Bat" (operetta). A brief summary of the 1 act will reveal the beginning of the story.

Under the windows of the house sings the serenade Alfred, who is passionately in love with Rosalind. But the woman does not respond to the feelings of the young man, she is faithful to her husband. The maid Adele receives an invitation to a ball at the famous patron of art. She begs the mistress for the evening, supposedly to a sick aunt.

Soon appears Eisenstein. He lost in court and now he will have to spend eight days in prison because he had a reckless disagreement with the officer.

The notary comes to the house and invites Eisenstein to the same ball where Adele will go. The man is going to have fun.

In the house remain Rosalind and Alfred. At that moment the director of the prison comes to take Aizenstein. He takes Alfred for her husband, Rosalind. In order not to compromise the beloved, Alfred confirms that he is Eisenstein, and goes to jail.

The second act

In the second act, the "Bat" (operetta) carries us to the house of Prince Orlovsky. The summary of the second act allows you to find out what events occurred during the ball.

The guests gathered, sing, dance and have fun. But this is not just a ball, but a masquerade, all the guests arrived in costumes and masks. At the ball in turn appear Eisenstein, his wife and Adele.

Rosalind dressed up as a bat. Her husband Eisenstein did not recognize his wife under the mask. Rosalind immediately realized that this was her husband, but did not show it. Eisenstein really liked the beautiful stranger in a bat suit, and he hopes for reciprocity. The hero is already looking forward to a new love adventure. But when Eisenstein asks the "bat" to remove the mask, she refuses to do it, and instead asks him to give her a watch. The stranger promises that they will meet again, already without masks, and he will be able to know it by his gift.

The third act

The ball ended, and the guests departed, who to where. Eisenstein, Rosalind and the lawyer arrive in prison. The first one to serve his sentence. Rosalind - in order to restore justice and achieve that Alfred was released. And the lawyer, in order to inform Aizenstein that he had gotten the case reviewed, now he must be released.

The husband of Rosalind requires her to explain why Alfred is in prison under his name. In response, she presents her husband with a watch presented to him at a ball in a bat suit. Eisenstein asks for forgiveness from his wife for infidelity. Rosalind forgives her husband.

Reviews

"Bat" (operetta) reviews in his address is different. As a rule, the audience is praised for the traditional production, they do not like the modern version, they consider it vulgar.

On the classic version of the "Bat" you can go with the whole family. The music of J. Strauss is simply magical. The plot itself gives a good mood and creates a festive atmosphere.

Despite the fact that the work has been so many years, it does not grow old and invariably gives great pleasure to the public.

This performance is a holiday, bright, light, colorful and filled with humor.
