The Children's Puppet Theater (Rybinsk) has existed for more than 80 years. He is among the oldest and best in his genre. The repertoire of the theater is based on children's fairy tales, but there are also several productions for the adult audience.

About the theater

The Puppet Theater (Rybinsk) opened its doors in 1933. It was founded by Zinaida Demidova. From the very first days the theater has worked so successfully that in 3 years of its existence it was recognized as one of the best in our country.

During the difficult war years the puppeteers acted for the defenders of the Motherland and for those who worked in the rear - in hospitals, factories and so on. In 1947 the theater found its own building. It was located on Cross Street. For many years the troupe worked there, until 2002.

In 2002, the theater had to part with the old building. And until 2008, artists performed on other people's venues. At this time, the building was being prepared for the theater along Vokzalnaya Street, in which it has been inhabited since 2008. This room was a large-scale reconstruction.

Today, the puppet theater (Rybinsk) is different from other cultural institutions working for children, the size of the stage and the viewing space. The hall is quite roomy and spacious. But some decisions, conceived during the reconstruction, allow creating a impression of a camera in the viewer. The scene is located above the level of the eyes of those sitting in the hall, which makes everything happening on it more accessible to the eye, regardless of the growth of the viewer. And even if you sit on the last row, everything will be wonderful to see. In addition, there are chairs in the hall, in which the height is regulated. Thus, both small and adult eyes can adjust the seats to their height.

The hall is designed for 174 seats. Its ceiling is decorated with a luminous, bright light-emitting diode panel. Another attraction of the hall is the curtain. It is very beautiful, sewn from velvet and decorated with Sofrin gold sewing.

On the first floor there is a cloakroom and a lobby. And also there is a beautiful fountain, a large aquarium is installed. In addition, on the ground floor there is a showcase, where dolls from different performances are presented. A stand with photos will allow you to get acquainted with the directors and actors of the theater.

The foyer is used for New Year celebrations, graduation and children's birthdays.

"Elephant in the dark"

One of the most interesting performances is "The Elephant in the Dark". Puppet Theater (Rybinsk) included it in his repertoire not so long ago. The performance is based on the ancient parable of Jalaladin Rumi. The main idea of the plot is that the world needs to be understood in its entirety, and not divided into parts. People (characters of the production) feel the "elephant", which is in the dark. But all of them are allowed to touch not only the whole animal, but some part of its body. So they try to understand how the elephant looks all.

Each of the characters is about him his judgment. But they are all wrong, because they felt only one part of his body and only at the level of his imagination try to imagine this animal. All the people who touched the elephant were very far from the truth. So with the world, if you take it not in its entirety, but in parts, you can not really recognize it.
