Wood frog ... Why her songs are heard less and less?

In our difficult century, even frogs in the swamp feel uncomfortable. People have become pragmatic and indifferent to these amphibians, very useful for our environment, and even consider them harmful, mistakenly believing that they spoil the harvest. In reality, everything, including tree frogs, feed on insects: beetles, larvae, with which agronomists struggle without much success. In this regard, even the Association of Zoos is concerned that in just forty years most amphibians, including a tree frog, may disappear.

So, the green-eyed tree frog living in mossy Australian forests and American Quintland is also in a difficult situation. Although she loves high humidity, she prefers not to live and rest in water, but on tree branches. There she finds her food. Its color is adapted to the habitat - it is a brown-green back, covered with yellow spots, to match the color of lichens on rocks, piling up near mountain streams. This species of frogs does not have green eyes, but only diamond green stains instead of eyebrows around beautiful and large eyes. The front and back legs are covered with skin patches, as if they are notches on the blade of the knife.

This carnivorous creature, whose female reaches a length of seven centimeters, and male - a little smaller, it reaches five centimeters in length, but very nicely attracts the female to mating, singing songs in rhythm - tuk-tuk. Green eyes in many other areas of the earth have already disappeared, but so far they live in difficult terrain.

The real "princess" in the realm of frogs is the red-eyed tree frog. Its habitat extends mainly to areas of South and Central America. It is remarkable that the red-eyed man changes the shade of his color, depending on the brightness of sunlight and the time of day. So, in the daytime her back is bright green, and at night - brown with a crimson tint. But the eyes are always red and convex. Fingers on its bluish paws are orange, and the sides, like the paws, are bluish. A very bright and always festive frog.

What is the reason for the sharp decline in the populations of these frogs? First, the use of pesticides and herbicides destroys frogs' offspring. Secondly, roads. People, sitting in the car, want to have only good roads. During the seasonal migration under the wheels of cars, a huge number of frogs are dying, crossing asphalted roads that blocked their migration path. That's why only a tree frog that lives far from people, in hard-to-reach forests in the mountainous tropics, is preserved.
