Wire connection

When installing any electrical wiring, the connection of the wires is required. In the middle of the last century, when the housing was massively built, the wiring was made with aluminum wire. This was done for economic reasons. The wiring in this wiring was done by twisting. If the twisting was done correctly, then such a connection without preventive maintenance served for a rather long time.

In those days it was the most reliable connection, and there were simply no other ways. There were no special problems, as there were few home appliances in the apartments of ordinary citizens, and the power consumption remained small. Therefore, the wiring from the aluminum wire and the connection of wires twisted satisfied everyone.

Today, literally every apartment is crammed with household appliances and appliances. The power has increased, therefore, special requirements are imposed on the wiring, which are stipulated in the Rules for the installation of electrical installations. According to this document, the connection of wires can be made only in three ways: by welding, soldering or using clamps.

There is no twist in this list. According to modern rules, twists are allowed, but this connection must be temporary before welding or soldering.

Welding is the connection of wires by contact heating of their ends with a carbon electrode with the formation of a point of contact. This method is very reliable and qualitative.

Before welding wires from their ends the insulation is removed and twisting is done. A flux is poured onto a flat electrode, where we later omit our twisting. Press it to the electrode and start the welding transformer.

The ends of twisting are fused. The result is a contact point. Then the compound is covered with a special lacquer and insulated. This is how the wires are welded.

It is possible to connect wires with molten solder. This method is called soldering. To solder the wires, from their ends it is necessary to remove the insulation and connect them. Can twist. The soldering iron heats up the solder and is transferred to twist. After solidification, the spike is washed with alcohol and isolated

Pressure testing. A manual press is needed for this type of compression joint. The connecting wires are twisted. The scroll is placed inside a copper tube and pressed.

And, finally, the screw connection. This connection is made by means of a terminal strip. Screw is inserted into the terminal board and clamped with screws, and then simply isolated.

And where can I apply the wire connections described above? Usually they are made in distribution boxes. The connection of the wires in the junction box can be performed by different methods. Every electrician has his own technique, but most often an insulating clamping junction is used. It is very reliable. And the main thing is that it is a plug-in type of connection. If something did not please the electrician or something was done wrong during the installation, then this connection can be quickly disassembled to correct the error or inaccuracy and just as quickly to make the correct installation.
