What is a student's portfolio? How to make it?

The student's portfolio is the so-called catalog of the student's achievements during his / her study at a certain educational institution. It helps to objectively assess the forces, as well as the skills and knowledge acquired as a result of scientific activity.

It can be created as a portfolio of documents on paper or as an electronic presentation with photographs, extracts and copies of documents.

Sections of the student's portfolio should be clear and concise, supported only by reliable facts from academic weekdays and student practice. There is a diverse structure of the student's portfolio, the sample of it will be, perhaps, this:

  • Personal information (autobiography, interests, hobbies, competence, level of proficiency);
  • Level of knowledge of the future profession (results of scientific research, practical works, course projects , etc.);
  • Official documents (diplomas, certificates and other awards);
  • The description of professional skills (reports on the practice passed by the student);
  • Scientific works (publications and developments);
  • Additional educational base (courses, electives, seminars, conferences).

This collection of documents and achievements of a particular student can facilitate the selection of applicants for a certain position for a potential employer. So the bright portfolio of the student is one of the weighty chances of successful employment.
