In addition, molybdenum, zinc, copper, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese and iron salts, essential oil, tannins and other elements necessary for the body are found in this berry.

How to brew compote from the dog rose, many know - in this there is nothing complicated. But how to bring new colors and flavor to a rosehip drink? The recipe can be either simple or complex, so the cooking time of this drink will fluctuate quite a lot.

The simplest way to prepare such an invigorating and useful drink, like compote from a dogrose, does not take much time. It is enough to cut large berries, to clean them from hairs and seeds, to wash the peeled berries, and then to blanch them in boiling water for two minutes. Then add sugar to the resulting drink (about three hundred grams per liter of water) or honey, and a little citric acid (half a teaspoon and a liter of water). After that, let the compote be infused, filter it and cool it. A compote from a dogrose is ready.

But from the same number of berries you can cook not just a compote, but a real masterpiece, more like a juice. This requires a little more time, but it's worth it.

The washed and peeled berries are allowed to dry a little and boil until softened. Add to our "potion" cut into slices apple, juice of one lemon and half a cup of honey (based on two liters of liquid and three hundred and a half kilograms of berries). We bring it to a boil, let it cool down a little and filter. The resulting pulp should be grinded with a blender or pestle and again diluted with a cooled syrup. We put the resulting drink on a slow fire and bring to a boil. Now we get not just a compote from the dog rose, but almost juice. To taste, you can add a little more honey or sugar and citric acid, cool and serve to the table.

It is important to remember that such a decoction is not only pleasant to taste, but also has a number of useful and medicinal properties. It is recommended to use it for a variety of diseases, including pertussis, pneumonia, diphtheria and scarlet fever. Drink of rose hips is also advised to include in the diet for the early healing of various wounds and for faster bone fusion in fractures.
