Wall cladding: materials and their features

Wall cladding is the final stage of construction work. This process can be called artistic, because it is the decorative lining that gives the building or facade an attractive appearance, creates its face, determines the mood of the building.

Facing works can be external or internal. From their type depends on the choice of finishing material and the technology of its attachment.

The exterior lining of the walls, besides the decorative function, also performs a protective one. It is she who protects the house from precipitation, winds, atmospheric influences. It is she who, first of all, preserves heat, takes upon herself the function of soundproofing.

Choosing the facing material for the exterior decoration of the house, you need to consider its main characteristics.

Decorative plaster. The fastest, easiest and most modern way of finishing the facades. Lining of walls with such plaster is durable. In addition, with its help, you can give the walls any kind of appearance: to make them monophonic or multicolored, to decorate with lacy imprint, fantastic patterns or any other drawings. The number of colors of the plaster is unlimited, and therefore, unlimited and the number of color solutions for decorating the house.

Ceramic tile. Usually used together with plaster. It is possible to tile the walls with ceramic tiles from the bottom to the top, but more often distinguish the facade, door arches, window openings or porch. Ceramic tiles can also be used to revet floors and walls in bathrooms, hallways, kitchens. It is chemically inert, easily tolerates any effects of the atmosphere or chemicals, is not susceptible to fire, easy to clean. The variety of tiles available for sale allows you to realize any artistic solution at the most modest cost.

Natural stone. Facing walls with a wild stone will undoubtedly give the house a status and thoroughness. The stone is almost eternal. However, it is much more expensive than artificial materials. In addition, a heavy natural stone requires a strengthened foundation, work on its cutting is not cheap. Therefore, the facing of walls with such material is quite expensive.

Fake diamond. It has all the properties of natural, but much lighter in weight and cheaper in cost. Usually, slabs of artificial stone have strict geometric shapes, so the facing works take much less time. In addition, if one fragment is damaged, it can easily be replaced without violating the wall pattern.

Natural wood. It is used for both exterior and interior lining. This is the most expensive process, which takes a lot of time. For facing, only well-dried boards are suitable. They fix them not on the wall itself, but on a specially constructed frame. It is believed that the lining of a natural tree is useful for health, because it does not emit harmful substances, but rather creates a healthy microclimate in the house, bringing it closer to nature.

This is so, but ... In order for the tree not to spoil from moisture, so that pests do not start up in it, and the outer lining of the walls does not darken from time and atmospheric influences, the tree must undergo a number of special treatments.

It needs impregnation with anti-inflammable compounds, bleaches, antiseptics.

All these compounds greatly reduce the useful properties of wood.
