A smile is what? Meaning, synonyms, photo

"From the smile it will be all brighter" - everyone knows this line from childhood, but is it fair? Always a smile is something that brings light and joy. Could there be other options?

Definition

You need to start with the main thing, and most importantly here is the value. Therefore, without delaying the case in a long box, let's proceed.

A smile is a mimic movement of the face, lips, eyes, showing an arrangement for laughter, expressing greetings, pleasure or ridicule. Naturally, not only these, but also other feelings. Smiles as much as emotions in the human arsenal.

It is clear that when we see a nice and unpleasant person, then we smile in different ways. When we talk with the boss or the subordinate, our facial expression is difficult to compare.

A smile carries not only light, as the Little Raccoon thought, she also sows chaos and horror. In the smile of the Joker or Hannibal Lecter, there are no positive emotions ...

Kinds of smiles

Naturally, the first thing that comes to mind is mimic movements that express different spectra of human emotions:

  • Calm;
  • Nervous;
  • cheerful;
  • Sad;
  • Sincere;
  • Insincere, strained;
  • Wicked;
  • good.

The reader to each adjective should mentally add the word "smile" so that we do not repeat.

There are also professional smiles that mimic certain emotions, we list only the professions, and the reader himself will understand what is at stake. So:

  • seller;
  • bartender;
  • stewardess;
  • waiter;
  • administrator.

Naturally, here only the brightest professions, whose smiles surfaced in the imagination almost automatically. It is known that the market economy turns almost everyone involved in the service sector into a human-smile. And this is inevitable. These are the rules of the game.

Synonyms

The object of our research is not so easy to replace. Because he does not have one hundred percent substitutions. But first the list, then the comments:

  • laugh;
  • Grin;
  • Smirk;
  • Grin (this is the "smile" of the animal).

All these synonyms are relative, because neither a grin nor a smirk is kind, sincere, behind them is always hidden some subtext, as a rule, not good. Laughter is also not a smile, laughter and a smile are different degrees of expression of emotions.

Grin, if he does not touch the animal, too, can not be recognized as a full-fledged synonym. Thus, we can conclude that there is no synonym for the word "smile" in the language, and this is correct. A smile should be non-alternative!

National differences between Russia and America

In the series "Colombo" in the episode "Colombo is losing patience" at the very beginning it says: "In this country nothing can happen until someone sells something." Thus, it is indirectly recognized that Americans are a people engaged in trade. Therefore, a smile on their faces is a direct consequence of the national character.

It is possible, of course, to deduce from this circumstance that they, they say, have a better life, that's why the smile on their face appears more often than the Russians, but all this is relatively to a certain extent. There are enough problems in the West too. So they are accepted: the smile on duty always plays and shimmers on the face.

The Russians, however, are focused and gloomy, and their smiles are sincere. True, we are already learning pre-programmed courtesy. What is there to do? Such are the realities ... If you do not smile, then it will not be easy to sell, both services and goods.

By the way, even a separate book came out about the Russian's unsmilingness, Luke Jones, a Canadian, wrote about her, and she's called Why Russians do not smile. We do not know if there is an official translation into Russian, but it would be interesting to look at yourself from this side.

I would not want the reader to conclude that the Russians are better than Americans, because they are more honest, because they do not smile for no reason, they need an excuse. It is not necessary to think so. The absence or presence of a smiling face on the face is just a national feature or a cost to the profession. Remember, for example, that humorists are usually the saddest and most caustic people in the world, for example, Kurt Vonnegut or Mark Twain. Maybe they joke only to turn the darkness into light.

Smile - it does not annoy anyone

And yet, in spite of all the horrors that the "facial movement of the face, lips, eyes showing the location" may call, readers will be encouraged to smile more amiably, because of this there is no harm, and the benefit is a whole car.

Of course, no one asks to forget about our national severity, but, honoring the covenants of NLP, let's say: that outside, then inside. In other words, if a person walks all the time gloomy, then even the greatest joy in his eyes fades and flies like trees in the fall, but in his soul will reign eternal winter. In this development of events no one is interested, because it has no benefit: neither psychological nor commercial. On the contrary, there are solid losses.

The recipe works and vice versa: if a person smiles, then "everything is not so bad for today", and there, you see, it will be easier for others. After all, it is impossible to live next to a person who is always gloomy. Remember the film of George Danelia "Tears dripping."

We leave the reader only a photo of smiles, so that he will not be bored or sad.
