Aerator for the roof and its purpose

Aerator for the roof is a device that serves to remove moisture and water vapor from the roof covering . Recently, the flat (soft) roof for buildings and structures has become increasingly popular. However, installing it, few people think about the fact that a heater, which is one of the layers, eventually accumulates moisture inside. It is because of it on the roof bubbles appear, and its thermal insulation characteristics deteriorate. Moreover, the thermal insulation screed is also destroyed. Repair of such damages is quite complicated and expensive. In this regard, it is better to take measures to prevent such situations. Aerators for a flat roof will help here , which remove excess moisture and drain the insulation.

Appearance of aerator

The device itself looks like a pipe, the diameter of which is in the range from 63 to 110 millimeters. From above it is covered with a special umbrella, the main purpose of which is to prevent rain, snow or other atmospheric precipitation.

Principle of operation

The principle by which the aerator for the roof works is quite simple. Due to the difference in pressure inside and outside the roof, a draft is formed in the pipe. Thus, water vapor, which rises up, is taken out to the street before it has time to inflict the slightest harm to the roofing structure.

Varieties of the device

There are two types of aerators for the roof - continuous and point. The first of these devices are installed along the entire length of the roof. Due to the fact that they are covered with roofing material, it is almost impossible to notice them to an extraneous person. In this regard, the exterior of the building or structure does not deteriorate. The point aerator for the roof is made in the form of a fungus and equipped with a fan. It is considered one of the elements of the entire ventilation system and is installed on the roof in certain places.

Installation of roofing aerator

Mounting the device is not very complicated. The main thing is to know certain parameters. In particular, it should be borne in mind that a certain distance should be observed between two neighboring "fungi" - no more than twelve meters. In addition, it should be borne in mind that individual devices need to be installed for every one hundred square meters of the roof. If the building has an increased level of humidity (for example, it is saunas, swimming pools), special conditions are set for them by the relevant design organizations.

Installation of the aerator on the roof is carried out in four stages. The first step is the cutout on the roof of the window, the size of which corresponds to the diameter of the pipe. After that, the old wet insulation in the place of installation should be measured to a new dry. The next step is the application of a special mastic on the bottom base of the pipe and the fastening of the screws. Finally, an additional layer of waterproofing is created on the vent. When installing the device on an old roof it is desirable that the diameter of the window is 80 or 120 millimeters.

conclusions

In conclusion, it should be noted that the aerator for the roof is a powerful ventilation system, which is the most effective for removing excess moisture from all existing ones. It is easy enough to install it not only for a new one, but also for an old roof. Together with this, it is quite durable and does not lose its properties with time.
