GCR: sheet dimensions, thickness. Manufacturers GKL
Gypsum plaster sheets - the material is very popular today. Basically it is used for walling and ceilings. It is also often used for making partitions and various decorative elements. The dimensions and thickness of the GCR sheets can be different. Choose them should be in accordance with what exactly they are supposed to use.
What is the material
GCR refers to special sheets made of gypsum and coated on both sides with laminated cardboard. Their main advantages include ease of handling, low weight, environmental cleanliness. Also GKL differs quite a high degree of strength. Cardboard protects the gypsum sheet from mechanical damage and destruction as a result of internal stress.
For today on sale it is possible to meet the following types of drywall:
Walled;
Moisture resistant;
Fireproof;
arched;
Ceiling.
Wallboard drywall
This is the most popular and often used variety. As already can be judged by the name, this material is used, first of all, for finishing the walls. This is the heaviest of the GKL. The dimensions of the sheet gypsum board are 1.2x2.5 m. There are also varieties of the same width, but shorter or longer: 1.5, 2, 3 meters.
The length of the wall plasterboard is 12.5 cm. This allows it to be used as a base for the heaviest finishing materials: tile, decorative plaster, ceramic granite, etc. The size of the GKL sheet 12.5 is standard. Therefore, it is not difficult to calculate the number of plates necessary in this or that case. You just need to divide the total length of the walls by 1.2.
Making partitions during the redevelopment of the room is also something for which a wall GCR is used. The dimensions of this type of sheet and the thickness of the material make it possible to quickly collect strong and durable structures.
Mount GCR wall usually on a metal or wooden frame. The joints are sealed with special means. As a result, perfectly smooth walls are obtained. Sometimes sheets of this type are used for ceiling lining. However, since they are too thick, they are used mainly only to create smooth surfaces.
Ceiling Sheets
It is also a fairly popular form of GCR. The dimensions of the sheet (thickness is 9.5 cm) of this type - usually 1.2x2.5 m. GCRs of this type are used to create various curved and undulating designs on the ceiling. Bend such sheets because of the smaller thickness is much easier than the wall. In addition, they have a low weight, and therefore, when installing them, you can use a smaller number of mounting profiles.
Of course, this kind of strength is inferior to the wall GKL in strength. Dimensions of sheets for this type of drywall are the same, and the thickness is less. However, since they are very rarely subjected to mechanical influences on the ceiling, it does not matter much.
Arched gypsum board
This variety is used in finishing works much less often than the first two. The thickness of arched gypsum plasterboard is only 6.5 cm. Therefore it can be bent without soaking in water, using needle rollers, etc. This type of gypsum board is used mainly for the manufacture of various decorative elements.
Also sometimes made of it are strongly curved details of ceilings and partitions. However, mount it in this case, usually in 2-4 layers. Durability this version of GCR because of very small thickness, of course, does not differ.
Moisture-proof and fireproof plasterboard
These two types have a standard thickness of 12.5 mm. Moisture-proof GKL is used for finishing bathrooms, swimming pools, bathrooms, that is, rooms with high humidity. From the usual such gypsum cardboard differs in that it has a green color and is not afraid of water. In the rest it is completely identical to the wall GCR. The dimensions of this type of sheet are also 1.2x2.5 m.
Fireproof gypsum board is used mainly for finishing stoves and fireplaces. Dimensions of plates of this type are also standard - 1.2x2.5 m.
Small sheets
Recently on sale it is possible to meet gypsum cardboard and other sizes: 0.6х1.2, 2, 2.5, 3 m. Such sheets are convenient for finishing of slopes of doors and windows. The thickness of their standard - 12.5 mm. For finishing large surfaces and making partitions, despite the strength, they are not used. The fact is that if there are many joints in the skin, it will turn out to be unstable, therefore, not too high-quality.
Manufacturers
Of course, when buying GCR, you should pay attention not only to its variety and size. Also, you need to look at who issued the sheets. The most popular nowadays is the Knauf gypsum board. Sheets are produced by this manufacturer from the highest quality material, therefore they are distinguished by their durability and durability. The size of the GKL Knauf sheet is standard. Available in widths of both 1.2 and 0.6 m. The length can be equal to 1.5-3 m.
Very popular in our country are such grades of drywall as Rigips and Lafarge. GKL of these manufacturers also differs in quality, durability and ease in installation. The price for all three grades of drywall is approximately the same.
Thus, we have found out which standard sheet GCR size has. 1.2x2.5m - in fact, very convenient dimensions, allowing you to build reliable partitions and mount a solid finish. If it is necessary to cover slopes, ceilings or manufacture of any decorative elements, it is always possible to choose sheets of other, more suitable dimensions, or thickness.
