Vietnam, Fangrang: attractions and photos

The city of Fanrang (Vietnam) is the administrative center of the south-eastern province of Ninh Thuan. Among other things, it is a young but already well-known resort, which, however, is not yet popular with Russians. Most likely, this is due to the lack of advertising by travel agencies of the benefits of Fanrang among domestic recreationalists in the tropical latitudes.

A few words about the city

Phanrang Resort (Vietnam) is located on the shores of the South China Sea, somewhere in between Nyachang and Mui Ne. At the moment its population is about 180 thousand people. The official name consists of two words "Fanrang" and "Thapcham". Of these, the first, the official part is of historical origin, and the second - Cham, and is associated with the indigenous people, anciently inhabiting local places.

In terms of the level of urban infrastructure development, Fanrang is not inferior to even the more populous settlements of Vietnam. There you can always call a taxi, there is Wi-Fi, great roads, and in recent years many beautiful modern buildings have been built.

History

Before you tell us in detail about the monuments of history and other interesting objects that are worth seeing for tourists coming to these places, it is worthwhile to tell briefly about its history.

Its heyday Fanrang (Vietnam), about which see below, reached in the 13th century, when it was the capital of the state of Panduranga. Subsequently, he moved to the vietas that invaded these regions and enslaved their indigenous population. During the Second World War in Fanrange, the Japanese occupiers built an airfield. It is a landmark of the city, however, its tourists are unlikely to be able to see it. Later, this field airfield was used by France, and then became part of the US Air Force base. After the Vietnam War, the Americans left the country, and since 1975 this military facility was transferred to the Air Force of the VNA. In the 90s of the last century tourism was proclaimed as one of the main directions that should help create a strong economy in Vietnam. Fangrang, whose attractions are presented below, has been turned into a beach resort, where today tourists come from many countries with pleasure.

Pokligaray

The main attraction of the resort and its environs are the Cham Tower. The first of these religious complexes is called Poklongaray and is located seven kilometers north-west of Fanrang. The structure is an ensemble of three towers, built in the 13th century by the Cham people. Poklagarai received its name in honor of one of their Cham rulers, who, according to legend, did much for his people, including the construction of a progressive irrigation system for those times .

The towers are located on the Chau hill. According to historians, in the old days they were used for sacrifices and prayers. The gate tower, most likely, was a guest tower, and the Fire Tower was used as a kitchen. These facilities have a block-modular design. They are made of brick made from local soil of blood-red color, glued together with a special vegetable gel. Over the 7 centuries of its existence, the structures collapsed to half, and in the last century they were restored.

Thap Ba or Hoa Lai

The second complex of towers is located next to the N 1A highway 14 km north of Fanrang. It previously also included 3 towers, but the main one of them collapsed. The structure is older, Ranging, since it exists from the 9th century and, from the architectural point of view, is built in a completely different style.

Tower of Atonement

This building is much younger than the others and was built only in the 17th century. According to researchers, during this period there was a decline in the arts, so the Porome is less picturesque and has a more modest decor than the rest of the Cham towers. In general, tourists interested in architecture are advised to inspect all such facilities located in the vicinity of Fanrang to represent the evolution of this art form in Vietnam for 6 centuries.

Ethnographic excursion

15 km from Fanrang is a handicraft village. Its inhabitants have been known for centuries for the manufacture of ceramic dishes. It is believed that this village is the oldest center of production of such products in Southeast Asia. At the same time, the ceramics created there are not at all like dishes from other regions of Vietnam and differ in both form and decor.

The church

At Hải Thượng Lãn Ông, Đông Hải Vietnam, Fanrang in the resort is the Catholic Church. It is operational and stands out against the backdrop of other city structures. The church was built in the 19th century in the French style, and before its entrance you can see the painted statue of Christ with outstretched hands.

Vineyards of Fangrang

The natural sight of the resort are the vineyards. In general, this berry is practically not cultivated in Vietnam because of its humid climate, however, Fanrang is an exception. There, they make grape wine, and in the middle of summer they spend the Ninthuang festival dedicated to this drink. So, before those who will come to Vietnam in mid-summer, Fanrang will cease to be the wine capital of Southeast Asia. This means that they will become spectators of various festive processions, tastings and folk festivals.

Beach

Fangrang is quite far from the beach line, so tourists who settle in hotels located in the city itself will have to travel about 3.5 km to get to the city beach of Ninh Chu. They can walk there, rent a bike or a car or use a taxi. In the first case, the journey takes about 20 minutes. However, all inconveniences will pay off with a pleasant rest on the beach of Ninh Chu, which stretches along the entire coastline. It is one of the attractions of Fanrang and especially will appeal to fans of a secluded and peaceful holiday. The beach is covered with white fine sand, it has a gentle descent into the sea and on it even in the "high season" you will not see crowds of tourists. As for infrastructure, it is much more modest than in the more popular resorts of Vietnam. At the service of tourists, several cafes and restaurants, where you can eat and quench your thirst. There are no other entertainments for children or adults.

Nyi Chua National Park

40 km to the north of the center of the resort is the bay of Vinh, closed from the sea. The water in the bay is clear and has a blue hue. The beach itself is sandy and very picturesque. Not far from it passes the border of the Nyi Chua National Park. There you can fish, so lovers sit with a fishing rod, it is worth renting gear and go for a catch, best of all, renting a boat. In addition, the reserve is a good place for diving, and for tourists, regular boat trips with a transparent bottom so that you can admire the underwater world. It should be noted that from August to December in the Bay of Vinhu is windy enough, so during this period it is better to do windsurfing or kiting.
