Valley of the lotuses: how to get there by car, train or plane

In the Krasnodar Territory there is an amazingly beautiful corner of wildlife called the lotus valley. Every year hundreds of tourists come here to admire the beautiful pink flower. Surely many people are wondering about how the lotus valley was created in the Kuban?

A bit of history

This paradise, located in the Akhtanizovsky estuary near the villages of Golubitskaya, Peresyp and Starotitarovskaya, was gradually formed.

Back in the late 30s of the last century, scientist SK Troitsky was the first to try to plant an exotic Indian plant in the Krasnodar Territory, using the seeds of the Astrakhan region for this. However, only after two decades of painstaking work on breeding, in the 60s of the 20th century, the experiment ended successfully. And all thanks to the efforts of the scientist A. G. Shekhov. It was he who could cultivate a flower in the delta of the Kuban River. Twenty years later, in the Ahtesian Estuary, near the city of Anapa, a lotus valley appeared.

When to Travel

It should be noted that if you want to enjoy the spectacle of blossoming lotuses, then you need to come to the Ahtesian estuary in the period from mid-July to early August, although it all depends on the air temperature: it also happens that the flowering lasts until the beginning of autumn.

What is the lotus valley

It should be emphasized that the lotus valley occupies an area equal to 2 km 2 in a place where the Cossack Erik river connects with the Akhtanizovsky estuary. The latter extends over a distance of more than 150 km 2 .

Certainly, a truly picturesque place is the lotus valley. How to get to it? Surely this question does not give rest to a huge number of travelers.

In fairness, it should be said that overland it is impossible to do: the only way is to rent a boat or motor boat and sail along the river Kazachy Erik, whose depth is 20 m, and the length is about 32 km. Of course, many will be interested to know that this ecosystem was created artificially, that's why the inhabitants of flora and fauna here are well known to us: snakes, turtles, herons, seagulls, eagles and even pelicans. These places deservedly received the name "Kuban jungle".

In addition to these massive trees around there is a huge abundance of medicinal herbs, of which there are more than a hundred species. The world of flora and fauna is rich and amazing in this natural zone. Many plants, such as mulberry, viburnum, acacia and others, are listed in the Red Book.
