Trail Golitsyn (New World, Crimea): history of creation and attractions

Trail Golitsyn (New World) is not just a tourist route. This is an unusual and very attractive way to get acquainted with the Crimean nature. It was created over a hundred years ago by the caring hand of Prince Lev Golitsyn.

New World, Crimea: Golitsyn's trail and its history

On the slope of the Koba-Kaya mountain in 1912 a unique walking route was laid. The creator of the trail was the famous prince Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn - the founder of the village of Novy Svet and Crimean winemaking. In connection with this, the name "Golitsyn's trail" was fixed behind the tourist route.

The New World in 1912 was visited by Tsar Nicholas II. It was he who became the first visitor of the paved trail. Tsar really liked the walk, after which he was also treated with champagne from the cellars of Golitsyn. "Now I see life in a new light," said Nicholas II, draining the second bottle of the fairy drink. Just after this phrase, the estate of Lev Sergeevich got its modern name.

Trail Golitsyn (Crimea): photo and description of the route

The total length of the tourist route is 5.5 kilometers. The path encircles the Eagle Mountain, then passes along the Blue Bay, rounds the cape Kapchik and ends at the Blue Bay. The entire route can be completed in 1.5-2 hours. It's worth taking a small supply of food and water with you.

Beautiful and slightly mysterious East Crimea. It is here that the Golitsyna (New World) trail is located. How to get to this tourist site?

The route begins near the western edge of the embankment of the resort village (within the so-called Green Bay). There is a checkpoint on which foresters are on duty. They take a small entrance fee on the trail and follow the order on the route.

The path of Golitsyn at the very beginning is rather narrow. On this site it is laid between a steep rock on one side and a steep cliff - on the other. Here the route is equipped with concrete bumps and railings for the safety of tourists.

First stop: Golitsyn grotto

The first attraction on the trail is the Golitsyn grotto (or Chaliapin, as it is also called). A narrow path leads directly to this object. In the grotto, Prince Golitsyn, wine cellars were built. Until now, niches have been preserved (in the form of hollowed arches) in the walls, in which were exclusive bottles of wine. In the grotto is also a well. Now it is dry, but in Golitsyn's time there was water in it.

The mainsail itself is a small cavity in the coastal rock, formed naturally (by sea waves). Its height does not exceed thirty meters, and the width is about 18 meters. Archaeologists have established that in the Middle Ages there was a cave Orthodox monastery. Ancient wall murals could be considered at the end of the XIX century. Later, Prince Golitsyn set up his wine-store here.

The grotto is also often called Shalyapinsky. In the depths of the rock cavity, one really can consider an improvised stone scene. On it, according to some sources, at one time the famous singer Fedor Shalyapin performed. And from his powerful voice, as the legend says, even a glass of wine broke. It's difficult to say that everything was exactly like this, and that a talented performer visited the New World in general. Maybe it's just a legend. Nevertheless, music concerts in Shalyapin's grotto are sometimes held today. The acoustics of this cave are simply superb!

Second stop: cape Kapchik

After the Shalyapin grotto, Golitsyn's trail, along the southern slope of the Koba-Kaya mountain, leads the traveler to the shores of the Blue Bay. It is also known as the Robber, since in the times of Ancient Greece here the ships of pirates hid. From the west, the Blue Bay is bordered by cape Kapchik, where the route leads further.

From Türkic, the "caper" language is an elongated small pouch that is worn on the waist. The cap is a cape that is connected to the land by a narrow isthmus. At the same time, he separates the Blue and the Blue Coves. Cape Kapchik - is nothing like an ancient coral reef. With its silhouette, it resembles a giant stone lizard.

The outlines of the cape are very recognizable by many tourists. After all, Kapchik "starred" in a number of Soviet feature films. This "Pirates of the twentieth century", "Amphibian Man", "Treasure Island" and many others. Here was the camp of the main characters of the popular movie "Sportloto-82".

From Cape Kapchik there is a beautiful view of the Royal Beach and Blue Bay - the next stop on the trail.

Third stop: Royal beach

Having passed Cape Kapchik, Golitsyn's trail leads tourists to the beautiful Blue Bay. It is bounded by Mount Karaul-Oba on the one hand and the already mentioned cape on the other.

The main attraction of the bay is the so-called Tsar's beach. It is called so not by chance: the monarchs have chosen this part of the Crimean coast for a very long time. Today, the Royal beach is a territorial part of the "New World" reserve, so access is limited.

Further the path of Golitsyn leads to the Juniper Grove, which is the final object on the route.

Finally...

Created at the beginning of the 20th century, the Golitsyna trail today is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Eastern Crimea. Excursions are organized here every day. This route allows the guests of the peninsula to get to know all the diversity of the local nature and landscapes of the Crimean coast.

The total length of the trail is 5500 meters. Along the way, tourists can see many interesting things: Shalyapin's grotto, Blue and Blue Bay, cape Kapchik, Tsarsky beach and other sightseeing objects.
