Shahid Kapoor - filmography. Indian films with Shahid Kapoor

Indian film actor Shahid Kapur was born on February 25, 1981 in the capital city of Delhi. Parents Shahid - father, the famous director and actor Pankaj Kapoor, and mother, Nilima Azim, no less famous actress and dancer. In 1984, the boy's father left for Bombay, and the family actually disintegrated. Eight years later, Nilima, along with her son, also moved to Mumbai (formerly Bombay) to see Shahid see his father more often. In Mumbai, the boy attended the prestigious school of Rajhans Vidyalaya. After graduating from high school, Shahid entered the Mithibhai College at the Department of Art Studies. Then he continued his studies at the Shiamak Davar Institution for the Perfoming Arts. In the second year of his studies at Davar Shahid was invited as a dancer to participate in the film "Rhythms of Love" directed by Subhash Ghaya, with Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles. In the process of communicating with such stars Shahid decided to devote his life to art.

Choice of profession

However, because of the departure abroad, I had to postpone all plans for an indefinite time. But then, returning to India, eighteen-year-old Shahid Kapur immediately engaged in his career in show business. At first, young Kapur could not decide in the choice of a specialty. He wanted to be both an actor and a director, the work of the operator also attracted him. In the meantime, he became a teacher of dance art at Shiamak Davar Academy, which he himself recently graduated from. And one day Shahid's friend suggested that he go to the casting for an advertising agency. A handsome young guy was immediately noticed, and a few days later he received an invitation to shoot a PEPSI commercial.

The final decision

And again on the set Shahid had a chance to meet with the stars of Bollywood, Rani Mukherjee and Shah Rukh Khan. Beginning actor Shahid Kapoor, whose filmography has not yet contained a single picture, has perfectly coped with his role, and the advertising agency received a talented artist, and Shahid himself finally decided to devote himself to acting. He left the academy of Dawar, gave up his choreography classes and began attending the acting courses, and then the actors' seminars, which were conducted by the superstar of Indian cinema Nasirutdin Shah.

Athletic actor

Shahid continued to appear in promotional films, from time to time meeting with his father and taking part in his projects, such as MOHANDAS and LLB Shahid's acting future loomed more and more clearly, the young man no longer suited his appearance, he was too thin. Many hours of training began in the gyms to build muscle. At first, the future actor Shahid Kapur did not notice the changes in his appearance, but after several months the results of hard work began to appear - the relief muscles. The novice actor made a series of photographs and sent photos to all agents of Bollywood, who somehow were engaged in the selection of actors to participate in film projects.

The first major role

After a while, Shahid Kapoor, whose filmography begins with this picture, was offered to play a major role in the comedy youth film Ishq Vishk directed by Ken Ghosh. This time the partners of the actor became unknown in the movie: the TV presenter of the programs Shenaz Trezharivala and Amrita Rao, the daughter of wealthy parents who wished to see their child on the movie screen. Nevertheless, the film was a success, Shahid received the title of the best debutant of the 49th Manikchand Filmfare Awards and a long-term cooperation agreement with TIRS. The picture was also noted as one of the highest-grossing films of 2003.

Shahid and Karina Kapoor

The following year Shahid Kapoor, whose filmography was replenished with new works, again met with director Ken Ghosh, who offered him the role of young Jaya in the film "Playing in Love." Shahid brilliantly coped with the role, critics unanimously noted the talented play of the actor. Later, Shahid admitted that the strongest stimulus for him was the presence on the set of Karina Kapoor, recognized Bollywood star. Then the actor played Nikhil, a simple country boy, in the film "The Heart asks for more," in company with young actresses Tulip Joshi, Aeshia Takia and Soha Ali Khan. But this picture did not have success, box-office fees were low.

First nomination

Year 2005 was a year of disappointment for Shahid, he starred in three films: "Life is so beautiful", "Non-random acquaintances" and "To love and not give up" - and all three paintings became an example of failure in the box office and box office. However, the consolation for Shahid was the recognition of his role as Vardhan in the drama "Non-random acquaintances" best actor's work. For this role, Shahid Kapoor received his first nomination "Best Actor" at the Star Screen Awards. Indian films with Shahid Kapoor became popular. In the following year, 2006, Kapoor played in the "Casino Chain Town 36" directed by Abbas Alibhai. The role of Raj, the main character, gave Shahid the opportunity to meet again with Karina Kapoor, who played the main character Priya. The picture was average, but the box office impressed. This happens in the film industry, when a film with questionable artistic value hits records of attendance. The films of Shahid Kapur, the list of which was expanding, were completely different for a number of subjective reasons. However, the ups and downs of a real artist only strengthens his character and is the key to further creative success. Shahid persistently perceived the setbacks and rejoiced at every success, that's why he was one of the most beloved actors of Bollywood.

"Engagement" and the second nomination

The next work of Shahid Kapur was the role of Jeet in the film "The Comedy of Mistakes", on the set of which he met again with Karina Kapoor. These creative meetings have already become a tradition. Then Shahid played the role of the urban playboy Prem in the picture "Engagement" by Suraj Bardzhiya. The film appealed to the audience and became one of the most profitable film projects of 2006. In addition, the success of the picture was a significant commercial success of Shahid Kapoor himself, who brought him the second nomination "Best Actor" and a large fee. Critics unanimously recognized him as the most emotional actor of recent years, with most of them believed that Shahid Kapur's best films are yet to come. The actor himself fully shared this opinion, considering it quite fair.

Success or failure

In the summer of 2006 Kapoor went on a world tour under the auspices of Rockstars Concert. The tour was also attended by Karina Kapoor, Asha Deol, Salman Khan, Mallika Sherawat and Zayed Khan. After returning from the trip, Shahid Kapur, whose filmography was already quite substantial, did not act in film projects, there was a pause in his work. In early 2007, Kapoor played the role of a petty thief named Raja in the film "The Complete Finish" of Ahmed Khan. The picture failed, there were no positive reviews, no box office. The next film with the participation of Kapoor was the romantic comedy "When We Met" directed by Imtiaz Ali. The role of a businessman-loser named Aditya was given to Shahid not easily, the smiling actor hardly got used to the image of the rejected groom. Once again, the actor was stimulated by the actress Karina Kapoor, who was also involved in the film in the title role. The partnership between Shahid and Karina benefited both of them, as teamwork and mutual understanding matter to creative people. The picture was a huge success, high box office, and Shahid Kapur himself, whose new films were getting better and better, was nominated for several awards.
