Tomatoes: growing, grooming and harvesting

Tomatoes can rightly be called one of the important products on our table. They can be eaten not only in raw form, but also prepare a variety of salads, stew and roll for the winter. Tomatoes, the cultivation of which was produced correctly, taking into account all the features, will surely give you their rich harvest. But to achieve this, you will have to make some efforts.

Cultivation of tomato occurs in two stages: first you need to plant the seedlings, and then plant it in the open ground.

Seedlings tomato. Cultivation and care

The time when planted seedlings, falls on February, the beginning of March, depending on the climatic characteristics of a particular region. Of all the seeds, it is necessary to choose the undamaged and the largest. Before planting, the seeds are soaked for 15 minutes in the cherry solution of potassium permanganate, after which they are put for a day in the refrigerator.

Next, you need to determine the place of growing seedlings. It can be both a greenhouse and a window sill. The easiest way to grow seedlings in a roomy environment, especially if you live in an apartment and there is no possibility in the winter often to go to the country. Prepare the soil: in a long box, pour in a mixture of 1 part peat, 1 part humus and one part sod land. If desired, 1 tbsp of wood ash and 1 tsp of superphosphate and potassium sulphate can be added to this mixture .

Seedlings are planted in furrows 1-1.5 cm deep, the distance between them is 5-7 cm. Before emergence, the box must be placed in a warm place, after which it must be transferred to a well-lit place. Care of seedlings is reduced to irrigation, it is not necessary to feed. As soon as there are 2-3 real leaves on the seedlings, it's time for picks. Already grown plants significantly interfere with each other, so they should be planted. This is done in glasses or pots. One plant planted in one glass. The composition of the earth can be taken as described above. After 12 days after the picking, plants must be fed using this solution: 10 liters of water, 1 tbsp nitrofoski or nitroammofoski. Consumption - one glass for one pot. Watering a moderate, excessive moisture is fatal for seedling tomatoes. Approximately two weeks before planting seedlings in the ground, tomatoes must be taken first to the balcony, and then to the street, and then left for the night.

Tomatoes. Growing and care in the open ground

Planting tomatoes in open ground is best done in late April or early May. Early varieties are planted a couple of weeks earlier than late. Tomatoes, cultivated up to this time were kept indoors, should be well strengthened, but it is extremely undesirable that they look overgrown.

The soil for planting tomatoes in the greenhouse should be prepared in the autumn. It is digested, humified and fertilized. It should be noted that tomatoes can not be planted where potatoes or legumes grew. In the spring, the land in the brick is again digested. Plant seedlings at a distance of 25-30 cm from each other. The distance between the rows should be about 60 cm. It is best to disembark in the evening or in cloudy weather. Tomatoes, the cultivation of which now also depends on the weather conditions, it is necessary to water moderately, and the greenhouse must be ventilated. Further care also consists of systematic loosening and hilling. The first fertilizing is carried out two weeks after planting the seedlings, the second - at the very beginning of fruiting, and a third later two weeks later.

Tomatoes, the cultivation of which was produced correctly, usually yield a plentiful harvest. But it is not always easy for beginners to achieve this result. A good experience will come with the years, so there is no reason for despair.
