To create a high-quality surface, acrylic glossy varnish during drying should not be exposed to ultraviolet radiation and draft. Some components in the composition with long-term storage can settle on the bottom in the form of a loose residue, so before use, the mixture is thoroughly mixed. So, after the distribution of the sediment by content, the material acquires a homogeneous structure.

Composition

Acrylic glossy varnish for artwork is made on the basis of polyacrylates, or substances formed after the polymerization of acrylic acid. Compositions are classified depending on the type of film-forming component:

  • Lacquer with thermoactive oligomers (styrenes, acrylates and other substances). It creates an insoluble surface, film formation occurs within 30-50 minutes when exposed to high temperatures. Perhaps the presence of plasticizers, for the dissolution of which hydrocarbons, ketones and acetates are used.
  • Composition based on thermoplastic and high-molecular acrylates. Forms a reversible surface, the film is created for an hour at room temperature during the volatilization of soluble constituents.

Application Features

An acrylic gloss varnish is applied most often by pneumatic spraying, the electrodeposition method is used for water-borne formulations.

To obtain a uniform quality coating on wooden surfaces and to reduce the consumption, pre-treatment is carried out with a special primer or tinted impregnation.

The creation of a mirror surface is possible after carrying out wet grinding. That is, the base is ground after wetting and drying, only after that the primer is applied. Also, this effect can be obtained by grinding all the layers of lacquer, except for the latter.

Acrylic glossy varnish is suitable for renovation of the painted surface, in case of thinning of the previous layer. To do this, the surface is treated with sandpaper and soap solution, then the composition is distributed, it is also possible to apply acrylic paints before use. It should be noted that the varnish is bred only in pure water, without the addition of drying oil and solvents.
