The root Muscovite is who?

Muscovites are often accused of snobbery and swagger when the phrase "indigenous Muscovite" is mentioned. The generation of modern residents of the capital is diverse, multinational and democratic. This phrase is rarely heard on the streets of Belokamennaya. Maybe because there were no native Muscovites in Moscow?

Theoretical calculations

Let's start with the dictionaries. Dahl defines the word "indigenous" as the main, primitive, source, and so on the page in small print. Another popular author of the dictionary of Efremov defines the word as original, permanent and again the main one.

Legal demography asserts that the native becomes a resident if three generations of ancestors lived in the given territory. The concept of "indigenous people" is consonant with this - the ethnos, permanently residing in a certain territory for more than three hundred years with ethnic, linguistic and socio-economic distinctive features, are considered an indigenous people.

Note that the concept originates from ancient Greek autochthones - this means the indigenous inhabitant of this country. And in ancient Rome, indigenous people were called aborigines. But the conquistadors of the inhabitants of the New World were called natives.

So who are you, the aborigines of Moscow?

Maybe we'll try to find a definition in the history of Great Russia? The root was called the central, skeleton horse in the troika, the other two were called crocheted. Maybe skeleton, the main residents of the capital - this:

  • Relatives of the founders in the VIII century of Moscow.
  • Relatives of those who drove the first and took their place in the next two centuries - the Finno-Ugric and the Normans.
  • The descendants of the Slavs and Turks, which in the 12th century made Moscow the administrative center of the territory.

Then you can continue. The main thing is the permanent and permanent residence in Moscow of all generations of ancestors.

This is a joke, but it is already clear that the definition of "indigenous Muscovite" is a difficult matter, sometimes almost impossible and very, very controversial.

A look at the problem of officials from the authorities

Officials introduced the concept during the period of Soviet power and it is connected with "limiters". It was then that the notions of "born Muscovites" and "indigenous" appeared. The native Muscovites were given the right to become queued for housing. By the way, the legal norm is still valid today.

The native Muscovite is one who lived and had a Moscow residence permit for over forty years. All those who live less than this time are Muscovites. And who was born in Moscow maternity homes - born Muscovites.

Official statistics, how many native Muscovites and other categories of Muscovites, no. But unofficially officials give a figure of 5-18% of native Muscovites.

Moscow without Muscovites

This is obtained by 2 million native Muscovites from more than 15 million people in the capital. But the city did not expand with the demographic explosion, namely, due to the infusion of blood from the regions. Where are the Muscovites?

In the cruel 30-40-ies, and then in the 90-ies of the last century, many indigenous residents of the capital were in other regions of Russia, and many in cemeteries, unable to withstand the pressure of the authorities and the crazy race of the metropolis.

But not everything is so gloomy. Russian diasporas in Canada, USA, Israel, Britain and other countries have been replenished with a considerable number of native Muscovites of all waves of emigration.

For example, in the UK, every fifteenth transaction for the purchase of real estate is made by the Russians, in 2006 the amount of transactions amounted to 799 million pounds sterling (data Knight Frank, 2010). How many of these natives are from the capital, no one knows.

Today's "limit"

"Limiters" of the Soviet era - working people working specialties, invited to the capital to restore the industrial facilities after the war.

Today's visitors - this is not a limit, but "come in large numbers." Rich people who bought housing in the capital, live in elite high-rise buildings, often simply not accessible to ordinary Muscovites. And not only Muscovites, the key word - simple.

"Ponaehavshie" citizens of Russia and not only arrived in the capital of the economy to earn money to support their families living in less stable economic zones. Increasing competition in the labor market, they come into conflict with the interests of indigenous people and their children (remember about 40 years). But the majority of Muscovites improve their financial situation, renting out newcomers.

The economic activity of the capital attracts more and more waves of visitors. And is it bad, because basically they are young, highly educated and energetic people. Aimed to improve personal welfare, and therefore help the country.

Among the native Muscovites there are few people who own a platinum bank card, oligarchs and those who are fed up with the delights of life. There is accumulated energy of action and aspirations, the city captures this energy. Unfortunately, not all of them can withstand it.

Moskvich - the concept of ephemeral

How much Moscow native Muscovites, in fact, is completely unimportant. The status itself is not a mark in the passport and not a secret. The concept is ephemeral, without the specifics of materiality, it is something inside the person.

The status of a native Muscovite escapes only in a situation where for a person this promises a certain benefit. And thus does not bear the latent threat or open danger. Everyone knows examples of such situations, repeatedly used by Soviet and post-Soviet cinematography.

And can we not consider the Muscovite as a British with Russian roots, who recalls with warmth and sadness the beauty of the Patriarch's Ponds and the old trams around Chistye Prudy?

This is exactly a Muscovite

It is difficult to determine in a crowd of Muscovites, but it is possible. A few signs that distinguish the one who is considered the native Muscovite, here:

  • The native inhabitant will cut half of Moscow, having passed courtyards, and thus it is hardly possible to explain how to get to the Crimean shaft.
  • He, most likely, has never been a visitor to the Mausoleum, but he goes to work through Red Square.
  • In the subway, all other things being equal, the Muscovites are the first to get out of the filled car.
  • When asked about the year in which the Ostankino Tower was burning, the Muscovite would reply that during the reign of the Mayor of Luzhkov, and opened after the restoration in the Sobyanin era.
  • His opinion is with the Muscovite on any issue. It is worth asking - you'll get tired of listening. But the main topic is power, there is no indifference here.
  • Akayuschaya speech is no longer a 100% indicator, but the Muscovites are still with an enviable consistency.
  • The native Muscovite is a person who will never say that the capital is big. For him, she is a small, familiar face.
  • Muscovites in Moscow attribute almost human qualities. She is not a beauty, but a dove.
  • Indigenous Muscovites remember the street names before they are renamed. And they love Moscow when "the grass was greener, and the air is cleaner".

Moskvich, so what are you?

Most imagine a native Muscovite as an intelligent old woman, a daughter of parents born in Moscow. She is without a kerchief and boots. She is in shoes, a hat and with a handbag. A dense age has saved her from marasmus, and she will tell you about the historical name of the street she walks with pleasure. She will call her native Moscow a fairy-tale city and a legendary city, not a supermegapolis.

Probably, it does not matter, a person lives here for more than three generations or came not so long ago. Important attitude towards the capital, to the White-stone, to the Pervoprostolnaya, to the heart of Mother Russia. If a person knows the history of Moscow or wants to know it, lives a cultural life, is interested in exhibitions and theatrical premieres, takes an active civil position and is friendly to the guests of the city, no one has the right to call it a non-native Muscovite. This is not the right of the inhabitant, it is his status belonging, which must be earned and try not to lose.
