Maximalism: is it bad or good?

Maximalism is most often found in adolescents, although this feature is also characteristic of many adults. Approach to life on this principle means extreme in everything: in claims, demands and views. Maximalism is when only "black" or "white" exists for man, and he does not fundamentally recognize any other shades.

Maximalism in adolescents

Typically, maximalism in its pure form is manifested in children aged 13 to 17 years. At this time, the person is not yet an adult, but already not a child. In this period, a person emerges from his little child's world and begins to actively interact with the outside world. Teenage maximalism is an unrestrained pursuit of your imaginary ideal and inflated demands on life in general. This concept also implies an uncompromising choice of actions and measures that are designed to bring the teenage goal closer.

In other words, adolescents begin to deny all the values of their parents, teachers or just older acquaintances. They often adjoin to any subcultures or radical youth movements, believing that their ideas are very close to them in spirit. At the youthful age, it seems to many that adults make life too complicated, but in fact everything is much simpler. Young people want to live happier, more interesting and carefree. Maximalism is a quick temper, fervor and selfishness. Such qualities inevitably lead to many mistakes in life.

Maximalism in adults

If juvenile maximalism can still be understood, it is quite different when such views are inherent in an adult, a settled person. Agree, it is rather strange when a person who already has some experience rushes from the extreme to the extreme. In this case, maximalism is a kind of defensive reaction of the individual. Distinguish a large number of shades of events and feelings is quite difficult and energy-consuming.

People just do not know what to do with many situations and emotions that can not be considered "good" or "bad". Some things are very difficult to explain, because they are much wider, multi-faceted and come out of the "white-black" paradigm. In order not to bother with yourself, such people simply at their own discretion determine this or that question in the folder "correctly" or in the folder "wrong".

How to benefit from this?

Despite the fact that maximalism - this quality is still more negative, in it, fortunately, you can find and positive moments. As a rule, people with maximalism have uncontrollable energy. If you direct it in the right direction, then at a young age you can prepare yourself a good start to adulthood. Children's maximalism is good because the child can achieve great success in his favorite business, because maximalists are often very purposeful people.

The main thing is that such qualities as uncompromising and quick temper are not your constant companions in later life. In addition, the use of extreme measures is not an option. By these methods you will not change anything in yourself or the world around you. Only the ability to accept the world as it is, plus a thorough analysis of the problems that arise, can help you change your life for the better.
