Briefly about the richness of natural resources
Of the one hundred and twenty kinds of minerals that are known to man and he uses them, 97 there are. Five percent of the world's reserves - just such a quantity of iron ore is concentrated in the lands of Ukraine. In addition, there are large deposits of coal, the world's largest deposits of sulfur, mercury ores (second place). A huge number of nonmetallic minerals widely used in the construction industry. And this is not the whole list of what the Ukrainian land is rich in.

The remaining 31% falls on the population of rural settlements (urban-type settlements, the number is 885) and rural settlements, of which more than 28 thousand. In small settlements, the main occupation is the management of agriculture, which has all the favorable conditions for development and high productivity. This is the climatic conditions, and the quality of soils (in Ukraine there is a third of arable land throughout Europe). Only the attitude of some people towards agriculture is unfavorable.

The population of small towns
The places with the least population are tragically known Pripyat (in this city no one lives now due to close proximity to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant) and Chernobyl, where approximately 500 people reside in shifts. They are responsible for ensuring security in the area, for working at the sites of the exclusion zone, as well as people who have decided to return to their hometown, despite the risk and danger.
Next come the small towns, where the population reaches values of about two to five thousand people. It:
- Berestechko and Ustilug in the Volyn region.
- Baturin in the Chernigov region.
- Skalat in the Ternopil region.
- Svyatogorsk in the Donetsk region.
Although the legislation of Ukraine to assign the status of the city can be a village with a population of ten thousand. But in a country with such a rich history there is a place for exceptions based on the historical significance of cities. Also, cities remain those settlements that previously had a number of residents above the required minimum, but over time the number fell due to the mortality rate and migration of residents to other cities and countries.
Rating in the world
Ukraine is in second place in terms of mortality in the world. Only South Africa is ahead of her in this sad rating. At a time when the average death rate in the world is 8.6 per thousand people, in Ukraine it is actually twice as high - 15.72 (data for 2014). For comparison, in Iraq, where the unstable political situation is in places, now and then there are tragic events with the use of weapons, the death rate is only 4.57. What is the basis of the problems of the population of the Ukrainian state?
The problems of high mortality
Mainly, it is ecology, or rather, disregard for environmental norms. So, first of all, pollution of water resources. According to the level of water treatment that residents of Ukraine consume, the country is 105th out of 120. The norms used to determine the suitability for drinking water consumption have been developed even during the USSR. Since then, "a lot of water has flowed under the bridge," many new, harmful substances have appeared, which are not monitored by obsolete standards.
The second important reason is the lack of recycling: only 10% are recycled, the rest - is added and burned, which is partly a component of air pollution. For comparison: in Europe, up to 95% of garbage is recycled. For example, cans of aluminum, in which Coca-Cola or Sprite drinks are sold. 99% go into re-production, because aluminum is completely processed, and all with a five percent cost of energy of primary production. And, of course, the problem of Chernobyl, which affected not only the Ukrainian lands, but also the neighboring countries of Western Europe, as well as the Russian regions nearest to the border .
