"The Prisoner of the Castle If": actors and roles

A lot of worthy historical films presented Soviet cinema to the world. One such film is "The Prisoner of the Castle If." The actors who appeared in the picture based on the novel by A. Dumas "The Count of Monte Cristo", once again thundered throughout the country due to their skill and talent. After all, playing historical characters is hard enough, and foreign ones - even more so. Who from the Soviet artists decided on such an experiment?

"Prisoner of the castle If": Viktor Vasilievich Avilov

The film consists of three parts. The script for each was written by Mark Zakharov and Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich on the basis of Alexander Dumas novel about the famous Count of Monte Cristo. Viktor Vasilievich Avilov embodied on the screens the image of the most legendary Count.

The history of Monte Cristo is not simple: first he was slandered by his associates, then he was imprisoned for 14 years, but he managed to escape and find treasures on the island of Monte Cristo. After that, the Count returns to his native place and discovers that all his enemies live a rich and full life. He brutally gets rid of them, but after revenge took place, he realizes that she did not bring relief to him.

Jungvald-Khilkevich, who directed the film, commissioned this difficult role for the actor with a rich biography. Victor Avilov did not immediately become an artist: first the young man turned out to be a graduate of the Moscow Industrial Technical School, then served in the army, and then worked as a driver. In a word, I had time to see life. Perhaps, for this reason, the artist managed to cope with such a difficult role and to earn all-Union glory in an instant.

Avilov can also be seen in the film "Maskard" in the role of Arbenin, in the film "The Art of Living in Odessa" as Vladislav Simen, as well as in the project "The Musketeers Twenty Years Later".

"Prisoner of the castle If": actors. Dvorzetsky

If Avilov played Monte Cristo at a more mature age, then Dvorzhetsky - this is the prisoner of the castle of If. The actors shared the different stages of the life of the protagonist: Dvořecky had a period when Monte Cristo still bore the name of Edmond Dantes and languished in the fortress on false accusation, and Avilov entered the game when Dantes already fled from prison and became so rich that he bought A new title and surname. Also Evgeni Dvorzhetsky played in the film the role of Albert de Morcer.

Eugene Vatslavovich played in many good Soviet films: in 1984 he appeared in the drama "Two Hussars", in 1986 plays Pyutter in the biographical film "Mikhailo Lomonosov", in 1988 he was given the main role in the psychological drama "Dissident".

In the post-Soviet period, Eugene Dvorzhetsky does not lose popularity: he plays Henry of Anjou in the "Queen Margot", King Henry III in the "Countess de Monsoro," a terrorist in the "The Barber of Siberia." He would continue to act in film, if not for the tragic accident, which broke the life of the artist at 39 years old.

Alexei Petrenko as Abbot Faria

Alexei Petrenko got the role of Abbot Faria in the film "The Prisoner of the Castle of If." Actors Petrenko and Dvorzhetsky, or rather their characters - the abbot and the prisoner Dantes - meet in the castle of If. Faria not only contributes to the spiritual becoming of the hero, but also tells him before his own death a secret telling about the whereabouts of treasures.

Alexey Petrenko for his long career as an artist served in many Russian theaters: him. Lensoveta, MDT on Malaya Bronnaya, Moscow Art Theater and many others.

In the movie, Petrenko was removed from 1967, and for the first time he appeared in the melodrama "The Day of the Sun and the Rain" by Viktor Sokolov. Then there were the pictures "King Lear", "Twenty Days Without War", "Leo Tolstoy" and "Cruel Romance". Alexei Petrenko appears on the set so far: his last role is the Soviet writer in the film "Outgoing Nature" (2014).

Anna Samokhina in the role of Mercedes

Beauty Anna Samokhina in the shooting of the film took part when she was already 24 years old. By the time she graduated from the Yaroslavl Theater School and had time to work in the Youth Theater of Rostov-on-Don.

"Prisoner of the castle If" almost became a debut in the movie for a young actress. Immediately after this picture Samokhin was invited to the sensational criminal film "Thieves in the Law", where she played together with Valentin Gaft and Boris Shcherbakov. The heroine she got is not in the least lewd and shocking. Anna Anna Vladlenovna later was surprised at how she could agree to the shooting, because she is a believer and has nothing to do with her character. However, it was this role that made the actress very popular.

Subsequently, Samokhina starred in such famous films as "The Royal Hunt", "Racket", "Don Cesar de Bazan", "Tartuffe", "Black Crow", "Bandit Petersburg". Unfortunately, the actress, having lived a very stormy life, died at 48 years old from stomach cancer.

Other actors

The picture "Prisoner of the castle If" was just full of famous names. The role of the main villain - Fernand de Morcer - was performed by Mikhail Boyarsky ("Three Musketeers"). His accomplice, Danglars, was played by Alexei Zharkov ("Ten Little Indians").

The role of Danglar's wife went to Iana Poplavskaya (the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood"). In addition, Arnis Licitis, Igor Sklyar, Vladimir Steklov, Vsevolod Shilovsky and even the director of the film Jungvald-Khilkevich appeared in the frame.
