The Miass River: history and geographical features. Miass River - photo and description

The largest river in the Chelyabinsk region is the Miass River. It is the main water artery of the Southern Urals. Its source is considered to be the key located in Bashkortostan on the ridge of Bolshoy Nurali. It flows through the city of Miass, Argayash, Sosnovsky and Krasnoarmeisky districts, Chelyabinsk.

Description

The Miass River has a total length of 658 km, and within the boundaries of the Chelyabinsk region - 384 km. The water flow has several relatively large tributaries, all of which occupy no more than 800 km. The largest of them are considered to be Zyuzelga, Bil'gilda, Byshkil, Atlyan, Kushtumga, Upper Irene, Big Kialim. In the watershed of Miassa there are more than 2 thousand small lakes. It occupies about 19 thousand km2. The source of the Miass River is located near the Chelyabinsk region, in Bashkortostan.

The banks on different parts of the river differ from each other. First, vegetation. In the upper reaches of the river you can only meet the pine, but on the average - aspen and birch. Secondly, the relief. Hilly banks are located in the middle reaches of the river, in the upper reaches are often found rocky ridges, rapids and waterfalls. This factor also affects the characteristics of the river: depth, current speed, ice and temperature conditions. On the reaches of the reaches, the depth reaches 7 m, while on the swells it does not exceed 30 cm. The flow velocity is also different. It can vary from 2 to 0.1 m / s. In the center of Chelyabinsk, the current is especially "lazy" due to the fact that the riverbed has been increased by artificial means.

It has more than 70 islands, which are very different from each other. There are granite, sandy, overgrown with plants or, conversely, without them. The Miass River has a winding riverbed. It feeds on the melting of snow, so in the spring high water level in it is rising. Reservoirs, ponds and lakes - all this is the Miass river. Where she falls, can be traced on the map. The mouth of the water stream is Iset, the left tributary of the Tobol River.

Toponymy

At the moment it is not known from which word the modern name of the water flow was formed. There are three versions that can not be refuted or confirmed. Vladimir Pozdeev, a successful local historian of Chelyabinsk, proves that the Miass river got its name from the word "miss", in Pashto meaning "copper", and "ac" - "river". That is, the "copper river". Others believe that one should look for roots in the Turkic language. The word "Miya" means "swamp", and "su" means water. Still others say that the name of the river is so old and has a relationship to the ancient Türkic times, that the meaning of the word can not be known.

An interesting fact is that the Miass River was named Mias before.

Minerals

Some sources say that the areas around the river are rich in gold. Indirect confirmation is the remaining traces of gold mining. There are also found minerals such as sands, trefoils, chromites, clays. Occasionally you can find deposits of gravel or pebbles.

In the area of the lower Miass, the existence of deposits from some natural materials was recorded. Their thickness reaches 200 m. This can be explained by the fact that the entire eastern Ural was presumably flooded by a tertiary sea, which existed for a fairly long time, during which such large strata of fossils were formed. Immediately found in clay teeth of large fish, presumably sharks. Their size and appearance are different. This suggests that in the sea lived a variety of fish: from small to large.

Nature

The upper part of the river is rich in pines and larch, and wet slopes - cherry, currant and other types of shrubs. The grass can be found on the clearings. But on the slopes of the mountains grow strawberries, strawberries, raspberries and cherries.

Pine forests, for which the Miass River (photo below) creates a favorable climate, do not resemble the Siberian taiga, even on the contrary. Trees are dry, grow in a chaotic order, which guarantees good patency.

Near the Bayramgulovo village, where the river flows, a birch grove grows, which has survived until now. After a certain distance, it is replaced by a thin strip of pine forest. Another boron can be found near Iset. Because of the lack of a railway, it is used mainly for local needs.

Caves and Canyon

For several million years, the stubborn Miass protruded a huge canyon. In the riverbed area there are also rocks, whose height reaches 20 m. In addition, there are arches, grottoes, funnels and caves. The first arch of the canyon was found in 1960, the second one was discovered much later. Scientists believe that, most likely, they were previously connected to one giant cave. Such a variety of relief gives the river a character, and the surrounding landscape enchants glances.

In the upper part of the canyon there is a cave-well, which has two exits. The first is located under the shore, and the other is vertical. At the moment, this piece of land is considered the richest rare plants, most of which are listed in the Red Book.

Due to the fact that the Miass River occupies a large area, in certain areas live a variety of fish. For example, in the Sosnovsky area there is a high probability of catching pike, pike perch, burbot, chibaka, bream, perch, carp, crucian carp. In other areas, these fish are also found, but less often. In the city you can successfully fish for pike.
