Telman Gdlyan: biography, photo
About him began talking in the last years of the existence of the USSR. He and his colleague N. Ivanov at the congresses of People's Deputies looked like Don Quixote and Sancha Panza, who decided to challenge the entire corrupt system in the ranks of the CPSU.
Telman Gdlyan: Biography
December 20, 1940 in the village of Bolshoy Samsar Akhalkalaki municipality (Samtskhe-Javakhetia) in the family of a farmer Khoren Gdlyan (Armenian), a son was born, named Telman, apparently in honor of Telmann Ernst - the main antifascist of Germany. In the family, except for a small body (so his mother affectionately called it), seven more brothers grew up. When the boy was 7 years old, that is, in 1947, two years after the end of the war, the family decided to move closer to the sea, to Abkhazia. In the southern town of Sukhumi, he spent his childhood and adolescence, here he went to school, where he studied beautifully and in every possible way manifested himself as an inquisitive and diligent student. On the honor board, throughout all 10 years of his studies, his photograph with a signature - Telman Khorenovich Gdlyan - was flaunted. The young man was the pride of the school, he was one of the first among his peers taken into the ranks of the Komsomol.
Adulthood
After graduation, Telman Gdlyan was drafted into the Soviet Army and went to the Saratov region. Here, for his excellent service and discipline, he was presented to candidates for members of the CPSU. In 1962, after passing the exam, he joined the ranks of the Communist Party. After serving in the army, he did not want to return to Abkhazia, to the family, and got a job as head of the economy in the training center in the city of Saratov. Here he entered the Kursk Law Institute and from 1967 to 1968 was chairman of the student political club.
Activities and a brilliant career
After graduation, receiving a diploma in law, Gdlyan Telman Khorenovich was appointed investigator of the prosecutor's office in the Baryshsky district (Ulyanovsk region), and 2 years later he was transferred to Zavolzhsky district of the city of Ulyanovsk as an investigator. Here he was waited by a wonderful career, in 2 years he was already a senior investigator of the Ulyanovsk Prosecutor's Office, where he worked for about 7 years, that is until 1981. After that, he was appointed investigator for especially important cases in the prosecutor's office of the Ulyanovsk region, and two years later he was already a senior investigator for particularly important cases under the Prosecutor General of the Soviet Union. They have uncovered the case of Johannes Hint. His rapid career growth is simply impressive, but many of his luck evoked envy. The number of ill-wishers grew with each passing day. With the advent of Yuri Andropov and the beginning of perestroika, he was appointed head of an anti-corruption investigative group engaged in the investigation of the so-called Uzbek case. As a result of this activity, the names of high-ranking officials involved in the case were disclosed. Many of them were forced to resign and even were arrested, A. Adylov belonged to them. Strange suicides were also committed, for example, by Ruzmet Gaipov and Davydov. After a successful operation Telman Gdlyan was appointed responsible for Churbanov's son-in-law Leonid Brezhnev.
Clouds gathering
Of course, the anti-corruption activities of Telman Khorenovich and his group were hostile, and soon accusations and complaints about violations of the rule of law arose. As a result, he was removed from the investigation. At the same time, a commission was established to verify the activities of his group. As a result of the pressure, some of the defendants began to waive their previous testimony, while admitting that they were under pressure during interrogations. Many of them were released from custody. Johannes Hint died in prison, but he was rehabilitated in 1989. Telman Gdlyan could not tolerate what was happening, and he began his public speeches, during which he made statements that the top nomenklatura wishes to curtail the Uzbek case, and therefore wants to falsify the investigation . The most significant was the publication in the magazine Ogonyok on the eve of the 19th Conference of the Communist Party of the USSR, where T. Gdlyan publicly accused some delegates of the conference of committing corrupt acts. Photographs of confiscated valuables and jewelry were also published. His desperate step has placed him a simple people.
Political activity
In 1989, Telman Gdlyan and Nikolai Ivanov (deputy investigative group) were nominated to People's Deputies of the USSR. He was elected in the Tushino district of Moscow, collecting about 87% of the vote. However, this did not prevent the prosecutor's office of the USSR from bringing charges against him and his deputy in violation of the "legality" of the investigation, as well as in becoming "on the path of" corruption. " However, in 1990, Telman Gdlyan was expelled from the party. A year later he was elected People's Deputy of the USSR and the ASSR, and also became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. In 1991, Telman Khorenovich created the People's Party of Russia and the All-Russian Fund for Charity and Protection of Human Rights. In the same year he was arrested by members of the State Security Committee.
Historical essay
On the day when the coup took place, four military men knocked on the door of the Moscow apartment of investigator T. Gdlyan, famous for the whole country. They had a warrant for arrest. He was taken to one of the military units near Moscow. There, a colonel of secret services interrogated him. He was primarily interested in what Thalmann Gdlyan thinks about the events taking place and whether he knows or at least knows who is behind all this. He was held in custody for 3 days and released as soon as the passions subsided. 76-year-old Telman Gdlyan today tells how he was wanted to be involved in the ranks of the State Emergency Committee. But then he did not want to stand on their side.
New time
From 1992 to 1994 he headed the political bloc "New Russia", was a member of the Public Chamber under the President of the Russian Federation. From 1995 to 1999, he was again elected a deputy of the State Duma of the Grandmother's Babushkinsky constituency of Moscow and immediately becomes a member of the Committee on International Affairs.
A family
Telman Gdlyan, whose photo is posted in this article, is married to Susanna Akopovna. She by profession is a doctor-therapist. He has two children. My son's name is Martin. He was born in 1981. Today he is deputy head of inter-district investigation department of Butyrsky district of Moscow. Gdlyana's daughter - Angela, followed in the footsteps of her father and is a lawyer. Since 2011, she has held various senior positions in the Russian Federation.
The Kremlin case
Telman Gdlyan quite accidentally fell into history. It all started with the fact that after the end he chose the work not of a lawyer, but of an investigator. He explains his choice by the fact that it would be difficult for him to put up with everything that the client will say, proceeding from the principle "the customer is always right", and also he would not like to discuss the size of his fee. Working in the investigation department of Ulyanovsk, he conducted all the investigations very thoroughly and with theoretical reinforcement. Here he was noticed and transferred to Moscow to the department for particularly important cases. His first case in Moscow was the arrest of Estonians Johannes Hinta on charges of causing damage to the state in especially large amounts. Later Hint died in the prison cell, but Gdlyan does not consider himself guilty of his death.
Uzbek business: some more history
As Telman Khorenovich relates, in 1983, at the end of July, he decided to take a vacation for the first time after he began working in the organs. But it was not there, he was summoned to his superiors and ordered to fly to Uzbekistan, Bukhara, in the case of Akhmad Muzafarov (the head of the Obkhossy) and Sh. Kudratova (Shoda Kudratova). Gdlyan was barely able to restrain his indignation: since when has the General Prosecutor's Office been engaged in middle-market bribe-takers? However, when he learned about the scale of the valuables seized from them, everything became clear to him. One cash Muzaffarova - the colonel of militia was on one and a half million rubles. In Uzbekistan, this business was handled by Melkumov, the head of the KGB of the Ukrainian SSR. He was an ally of the new General Secretary Yu. Andropov and, at his own instructions, decided to challenge the situation that prevailed in the country under Brezhnev's rule. Action to combat corruption, they decided to start with Uzbekistan, where before all affairs were run by 5 regional clans, of course, with the support of Sh. Rashidov, who was all "unfastened" the rate. As it turned out later, the title of the Hero of Social Labor could be obtained for 1.5 million rubles, and the post of the 1st secretary of the district committee from 200,000 to 300,000 rubles. The same was the post of rector of the university. And this meant that to enter the institute you had to pay 2-5 thousand rubles. The most profitable industry was "white gold" - cotton. It was from here that it was necessary to start Gdlyan. Prior to this, the "auditors" from Moscow to Uzbekistan were accepted with traditional oriental cordiality. You already know how everything turned out. A year after Brezhnev's death, Rashidov, as you know, committed suicide. Apparently, he failed to "agree" with the new secretary general. Of course, today many people say that if Yu. Andropov had stayed longer with the authorities, much would have gone in a different direction.
Telman Gdlyan: where does he live now?
Is it possible to call him today a politician? Today, few people remember about him. Of course, journalists from time to time go to him to find out the details of some cases related to the USSR. Sometimes he willingly confides, but sometimes he leaves an answer. 75-year-old Gdlyan, as before, lives in Moscow, loves to travel.
