Where did Pushkin, the greatest Russian poet, be buried?

It is difficult to overestimate the contribution made by the genius poet Alexander Pushkin to the treasury of Russian literature. Although his contemporaries did not consider his talent, and this man was repeatedly subjected to ridicule, but the descendants were able to appreciate the power of his word. Therefore, many fans of the poet is so important to know where Pushkin was buried, to pay tribute to him, laying flowers on the grave.

Even during his lifetime Alexander Sergeevich decided on the place of his last refuge. He did not want to be buried in St. Petersburg, because he considered this city a marsh with ordinary graves. The poet wanted his ashes to be moved to the Pskov region, to the village of Svyatiye Gory (now the Pushkin Mountains), where his mother rests. For this reason (less than a year before his death) he contributed money to the treasury of the Svyatogorsky Monastery and secured a piece of land with him.

Despite the fact that to this day there is a crypt with a coffin on which a monument is erected, but no one can say exactly where Pushkin was buried. When Alexander Sergeevich was alive, he was not very much appreciated, was not left alone after his death. There is every reason to believe that, on the orders of the emperor, he was secretly buried in St. Petersburg, and in the Pushkin Mountains a completely different person rests.

To the fact that no one can say exactly where Pushkin's grave was, his long-time enemy - the head of the gendarmes Alexander Benckendorff - put his hand. According to some studies, it was this man who was directly involved in organizing the murder of the poet, and therefore it was beneficial for him to hide the body. The funeral was more like a military operation, because the church was changed at the last minute, the coffin was taken out at night, even the torches were not illuminated, and the gendery in which the worshipers gathered about the deceased was cordoned off by gendarmes.

A funeral service was sung over the boarded-up box in which the coffin was, and then the "cargo" was sent along with the emperor Turgenev to Pskov province. The question of where Pushkin was buried was raised in the first months after his death. There were all kinds of rumors and speculation in the society, but no one dared express their opinion directly. For all these years, a case has been made several times to open the coffin and exhume the body, but so far it has not been done.

At first no one dug to the point where Pushkin Alexander Sergeyevich was buried , because he did not dare to challenge the authorities. After the end of the Second World War, the director of the reserve "Pushkin Mountains" S. Geychenko under the guise of carrying out the capital works, which the crypt and monument really demanded, conducted excavations and opened the coffin. This man did not dare to express his thoughts directly, but only in a very cautious and coded form said that the body does not resemble a great poet.

If, then, the surviving hair were sent for examination, there would be a mystery: where did Pushkin really be buried? And it was not very desirable to solve it. Geychenko sent to the museum fund only a piece of a splinter from the coffin of a tree and a nail, but did not touch his hair. After the exhumation of the remnants, one could once and for all decide the question: "Who is buried in the village of Pushkinskie Gory?" There are so many blank spots in this story. Whether there will be answers to numerous questions, only time will show.
