Do I need a visa for Israel for Russians and citizens of the CIS countries?

Every year millions of foreigners visit Israel. They are pilgrims who want to see and worship shrines, businessmen who come to their partners on business, tourists who want to relax in modern Israeli resorts and just people coming to their relatives or friends. They are all interested in the question of whether a visa to Israel is necessary for Russian citizens.

Since 2008, between Russia and Israel, there is a visa-free regime, according to which a visa is not needed for Russians, but under certain conditions. So, the visa does not need to be issued if the planned period of visiting the country for six months does not exceed 90 days, while the purpose of the trip is a tourist trip, a visit to relatives, a short-term business meeting that does not involve receiving a monetary reward or treatment.

In this case, you need only a passport, round-trip air tickets with the specified date of departure, a document confirming the hotel reservation, a medical insurance policy valid for the entire stay in the country. An invitation must also be provided if the purpose of the trip is to visit friends or relatives. To receive medical treatment in Israel, you need a letter from the medical institution. In some cases, you may be required to confirm your solvency, for this you can indicate the amount of cash taken on a trip, or show a bank card.

In the event that a citizen plans to stay in the country for more than 90 days, as well as carry out any activity that involves receiving remuneration, engage in studies or participate in various organizations, a visa for Israel is compulsory for Russians. In 2011, the visa-free regime was concluded with Ukraine. Ukrainians just like Russians can not make out tourist and guest visas, in all other cases a visa is still required. A visa to Israel is obligatory for Belarusians, since the agreement with Belarus has not yet been concluded, although it is planned in the future.

Children under the age of 18 who are accompanied by both parents need to have only a birth certificate with them. If the child is accompanied by one parent, a power of attorney from the other parent is required, certified by a notary. If the child is accompanied by third parties, the power of attorney is required from both parents.

A visa to Israel for Russians or a visa-free regime is not yet a guarantee that a citizen will freely enter the territory of the state. The border services reserve the right not to let foreigners into the country and deport them back to their homeland if they do not like something. Israel is not in the most friendly relations with many Arab states, so sometimes the border service arranges real interrogation for newcomers. This should be treated with understanding, because they, thus, protect the peace of their citizens and guests of the country.

In some cases, even a issued visa to Israel will not help. For the Russians who have visas of Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Iran in their foreign passport, the special service will conduct a special interrogation with a passion, and in some cases may even deport them without explanation. Therefore, in order to avoid unnecessary problems, before traveling it is best to arrange a new passport.
