Symptoms of gonorrhea in women: how to recognize and what to do

Most pregnant women are puzzled when a doctor prescribes the performance of tests that detect sexually transmitted infections. Do I need to be reinsured when everything is in order? Unfortunately, such diseases are quite common phenomenon, which negatively affects both women's health and the development of a future child.

Let's look at one of these diseases - gonorrhea.

A little about the disease

Gonorrhea is an infectious disease, the infection of which occurs mainly through sexual contact. This disease is known even from ancient times. No wonder it is mentioned in the Bible as an "unclean expiration". In men, the main symptom of the disease is purulent discharge from the ureter. Symptoms of gonorrhea in women are sometimes completely absent. Without timely treatment, the disease begins to progress, which leads to irreparable consequences that have a negative impact on women's health.

The causative agent of the disease is a gonococcus, which is a paired bacterium, similar in appearance to coffee grains. The likelihood of infection is the same as in the oral, usual, and anal sex act. Oral symptoms resemble angina, and anal infection affects the rectum.

Incompetent way of infection with gonorrhea is possible during the birth process or as a result of close contact of a small daughter with a sick mother.

Symptoms of the disease

Signs of gonorrhea in women consist in frequent urination, itching and burning of the vagina, the presence of purulent discharge from the cervix. Redness and swelling of the genitals are noted.

Also, the disease has a negative effect on well-being - the temperature rises, symptoms of intoxication are present, nausea, vomiting and loose stools begin . There are failures in the menstrual cycle. The spread of infection provokes abortion, childbirth, menstruation and the introduction of a spiral.

The emerging symptoms of gonorrhea in women require immediate treatment. If the doctor does not contact the doctor in time, the illness becomes chronic. This circumstance leads to infertility, the formation of adhesions in the small pelvis, ectopic pregnancy or miscarriages.

In some cases, a secondary infection develops. In these cases, the symptoms of gonorrhea in women will be as follows: small erosions appear in the vagina, purulent discharge appears, often with blood veins. There is a vulvitis, accompanied by itching and burning of the genitals. Perhaps the development of bartolint, and as a consequence, the emergence of a "gonorrhea spot" on the mucosa of the larger gland of the vestibule.

How is the treatment?

The first symptoms of gonorrhea in women can manifest themselves at the initial stage of the disease. Therefore, the gynecologist conducts an examination and suggests performing the necessary tests, which confirm the presence of infection.

The main treatment is to take antibiotics. However, in some cases, the causative agent of infection can be monitored for drug resistance. In this case, prescribe injections to determine the sensitivity to the drug.

In the treatment of the initial stage, a single administration of an antibacterial preparation is used. During the treatment, sex and alcohol are excluded. The next stage of treatment is the reception of eubiotics.

The incubation period of gonorrhea is up to 10 days (sometimes it lasts up to one month) after full recovery. This is determined by the absence of an infectious agent in the analysis and the complete disappearance of all symptoms.

Preventive measures and timely treatment of gonorrhea will avoid the future of most problems. Personal prevention consists in the exclusion of casual sex and unprotected sex.
