Subcutaneous tick in dogs. Diagnosis and treatment

Each animal, wherever and under what conditions it does not live, is subject to various diseases. One of these diseases is the subcutaneous tick in dogs (demodecosis). The peculiarity of this disease lies in the complexity of its detection in the early stages and the definition of its type.

The subcutaneous tick in dogs is the endoparasite, which lives in the sebaceous glands of the skin, the inner layer of the epidermis and the hair follicles and is the causative agent of the disease not only in animals but also in humans. With this disease, both the outer skin and internal organs are affected. Subcutaneous tick has an elongated elongated shape, less than 1 mm in size.

The subcutaneous tick in dogs secretes the products of vital activity, which are strong allergens, causing itching and various streptococcal and staphylococcal infections. On the affected areas of the skin are formed peeling, knollous wounds, in some places hair falls out. In dogs, this manifests itself in a special form of scabies, which occurs in the form of dermatitis and hyperkeratosis. Most often, the subcutaneous mite in dogs is manifested at the age of up to a year. This is due to the low level of immunity, which can be associated with the procedure for cupping the ears or with a change of teeth.

Demotectosis affects all breeds of dogs, infection usually occurs when contact with sick animals through the muzzle, lips, ears, eyes, forelegs and other places most active in contact. It is also possible to infect the puppies from the mother.

In severe forms of the disease, internal organs such as the spleen, kidneys, stomach, lymph nodes and liver are affected.

Symptoms of the disease

The disease manifests itself in the form of skin lesions, as a result of which thermoregulation is disturbed, and the animal freezes and experiences chills even in a warm place. It is very difficult to detect a subcutaneous tick in dogs, the symptoms of this disease are also suitable for other infectious infections. It is worth paying attention to the behavior of the dog. A pet that suffers from subcutaneous mites becomes less friendly, irritated, and may at all refuse to communicate with its host. If the animal bites and combs the skin, it has a strong spotted hair loss or skin flaking in the form of dandruff, do not self-medicate and wait until it all goes by itself - contact the veterinarian. This is necessary for the delivery of all necessary tests and the establishment of an accurate diagnosis.

Treatment of subcutaneous mites in dogs

Better prevention of the disease is considered to be careful care for the animal, but if your pet still gets demodicosis, special medications that destroy this parasite will help you in treatment.

Typically, the animal is prescribed the use of acaricides, which contribute to the destruction of entire colonies of mites in the sebaceous glands and hair sacs. The most common and effective acaricides are Ivermectin, Amitrazine and Ivomec. As a complex treatment, imunnomodulators such as Fosprinil, Cycloferon, Ribotan and Anandin can be used. Also do not forget about vitamins.

It must be remembered that all these drugs are toxic, so it is worth taking care of the liver of the dog and applying protective medications. For external treatment, you can use an aversectin ointment or any other prescribed by a veterinarian. Also remember the healthy eating of the dog. It also determines the rapid recovery of the animal.
