Someone more often buys fish already ready, and someone prefers smoked mackerel at home. In fact, this process is not so laborious, everyone can master it, regardless of the place of residence: whether it's a private house or an apartment. There are several recipes and methods of smoking, let's look at some of them.

Hot smoked mackerel at home

Soak the chips in the water for a day. In a container mix the salt and sugar (half the glass) and grate the mixture with four carcasses on both sides. Let it brew for 30-40 minutes in the refrigerator. Mix two tablespoons of black pepper, a tablespoon of mustard and lemon juice and rub in fillets, marinate for another 30 minutes. If you use a brazier, remove the racks and light a small fire. When the coals burn out, collect them in a heap. Drain the fish fluid, blot and place the fillets on a sheet of aluminum foil. Make a few holes in the foil and put the fish on the grate, which is placed on the coals. Check the condition of the mackerel after 15 minutes, it should be firm, with a shiny crust, opaque, but not dry inside. Yield: 4 servings.

Smoked mackerel at home on the stove

As a smokehouse you can use a deep tin or metal bowl with a foil lid and a large tray. The bottom of the bowl is filled with chips of oak, the mackerel will be laid out on the chips, previously wrapped in foil. The bowl is set on a weak fire and tightly closed with foil and lid. Smoked mackerel for about an hour. Then you need to get the fish, wrap it with a wet towel and leave to cool for six hours.

When smoking mackerel at home is mastered, you can experiment with recipes. There are a lot of dishes that can be prepared from this fish: hot, snacks, salads. And what to cook from mackerel to a quick hand? For example, in 30 minutes you can build a fillet of mackerel with dill and a salad of cucumbers. For four servings you will need half a cucumber, sliced into thin slices, fennel root, two celery stalks, four pieces fillets, a spoonful of sunflower oil. For refueling, take a tablespoon of honey, half a spoonful of mustard, 15 grams of dill, a spoonful of olive oil and vinegar. Prepare the dressing, add two spoons of water, place the cucumber, fennel and insist 30 minutes. On the heated frying pan lay the fish fillet skinned down, fry 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked. Lay the cucumber salad on a plate, put the fillet of mackerel on top, serve with fresh potatoes.

To the table you can serve a delicious salad of smoked mackerel. To make it, you need a green salad (leaves), peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, 4 carcasses of smoked mackerel without bones and peel. Beans and peas, boil, cut the tomatoes into four parts, cut the greens finely with your hands. Mix the chopped mackerel and the rest of the ingredients, season with light mayonnaise with garlic and lemon juice. Bon Appetit!
