Self-awareness of personality

The nature of each person consists of numerous psychological features. Self-consciousness of a person consists in a systematic analysis of individual processes within themselves, their connection with their own actions. This explains the ability to see oneself from the side, to notice those traits that one would like to correct or, on the contrary, strengthen.

Many scholars have devoted the life of the concept of self-knowledge, in which the subject of the study is the subject himself, wishing to comprehend his essence. A difficult and confusing way leads to a solution of one's own psychological structure.

According to the theory of B.G. Ananyev's self-consciousness of the personality arises at a time when the child understands his actions, and develops to a natural level of self-esteem. The first is the physical I, in time - the spiritual Self.

Over the years, self-awareness performs a function of mental autoregulation in relation to others and to oneself in daily activities.

A person lives in harmony with himself, as long as what he wants to see himself, coincides with what he is in reality. If there is a difference in appearance and actions from the desired model, then there are problems with the psyche, caused by internal contradictions.

Self-consciousness of the person can be revealed in the concept "I am a concept" from the psychologists of W. Thomas and F. Znaniecki. This includes all the qualities of his character that a person realizes, as well as his place in the society, what he does and what he can do in the future.

In this case, the individual is able to assess his own cognitive, emotional and behavioral system. As a result, it becomes clear to a person why he thinks this way, and not in another way; Why does he feel specific emotions in the situation; Than dictated by his actions.

For example, the self-consciousness of a person can be observed at a time when the subject rejoices at the failure of a neighbor, but the feeling is uncomfortable for him. He realizes his unnaturalness, irrelevance under the circumstances.

I-concept is considered as the manifestation of three modalities

  • The ideal Self represents the attitudes received in the process of education and life experience, about the perfect model of man. It is important to take into account that the position of the individual may differ from the generally accepted rules. For example, a thief wants to look like a criminal authority.
  • The Mirror Self is a combination of attitudes in which a person has his own personal opinion of how he is seen by others.
  • The real I is embedded in the genetic code, is responsible for a person's abilities, status, possible roles in life and in society.

Self-consciousness of a person is a system of psychological analysis, where the three modalities are further divided into four identical aspects: physical, mental, social and emotional.

From the I-concept all aspects of human existence depend, so it is so valuable to study it, to develop correction techniques.

Self-esteem is a subjective category

Special attention of psychologists is advised to draw on that emotional zone of the self-concept, where self-consciousness and self-esteem of the individual are considered. Most scientists point out that a positive outlook on oneself is the basis for realizing abilities in the professional sphere. Increasing self-esteem is often necessary to achieve success in social activities and in family life.

Objectively, an overestimated or underestimated level of self-esteem of a person can only be a qualified specialist. Practicing psychologists do not tend to focus on the client's self-esteem. People with a high opinion of their abilities easily endure hardship and stress. There are many methods aimed at the formation of a positive self-concept.
