"Sanctum". Actors and an unreasoned story

A group of people in a closed space and a path to salvation - this scenario is often used by writers. Typically, the originality of such films do not differ, but not in the case of the thriller "Sanctum". Actors and a film crew led by James Cameron were in extreme conditions.

The basis of the plot

In 1988, a group of 22 speleologists conducted research in one of the caves. During operation, the weather conditions changed drastically - because of the cyclonic storm the cave was flooded, and 15 scientists fell into a real trap. People in the depths and rescuers on the surface had to find a new way out. More than a day the researchers stayed in the water, but in the end all survived.

It was these events that formed the basis for the scenario of the painting "Sanctum". The film turned out to be incredibly spectacular thanks to the technologies that were used in the filming of the famous "Avatar". Unfortunately, the audience is waiting for a dramatic ending, because few of the main characters will be able to climb to the surface.

A story with a sad end

Before the shooting in the film "Sanctum" actors were seriously trained. In one interview, Richard Roxburgh shared his impressions. For the sake of his role, he, along with Joan Griffith, Reese Wakefield, Alice Parkinson and other colleagues, mastered rock climbing and scuba diving. It is worth noting that the author of the idea Andrew White and his friend James Cameron are very familiar with diving. Together, they studied the ocean depths during the filming of the Titanic, the Bismarck Expedition and Alien from the Abyss.

The focus of speleologists was the largest cave network in Papua New Guinea. Scientists are trying to find an outlet to the sea, but their plans are violated by a tropical storm, which began two days earlier. Water comes to the caves, cutting off the way back. The only option to salvation is to find the same way out, sinking deeper into the caves.

A bright picture of the underwater world is one of the main advantages of the film "Sanctum". Actors, among whom there are no world-sized stars, have done an excellent job. Colossal tension, hope for salvation and powerlessness - we want to hope for a happy ending, but it was not written in the writers' plans.

Frank McGuire

A real storm of emotion causes viewers to watch the movie "Sanctum". Richard Roxburgh performed the role of head of the expedition of Frank McGuire. An endless labyrinth of caves and a lack of oxygen can drive even the most experienced diver crazy, but Frank manages to keep cool, because it is up to him to decide the fate of the rest of the team, one of which is his own son.

The first education that the Australian actor received did not come into contact with the world of art. Two years after graduation, Roxburgh became a graduate of the Theater Institute.

Career on television began in 1987, and only thirteen years later Richard Roxburgh heard the whole world. At first, attention was drawn to the role in the action movie "Mission Impossible - 2", then there were the projects "Moulin Rouge", "Van Helsing", "League of outstanding gentlemen".

Despite the quality and the latest technology, in the movie "Sanctum" actors give much more emotion and tension. In fact, this is not a trivial story telling the viewer about people trapped.

The main character is not the leader of the group Frank, but his son. Because of the circumstances, Josh had to turn sharply from a boy to a real man, capable of making difficult decisions.

"Sanctum" - a film that once again demonstrates to us human weaknesses. In a critical situation, some people display courage, courage and self-sacrifice, while others get betrayal and cowardice.

Unfortunately, losses in a group of speleologists are predictable. Tragic accident, caisson disease and rocks - death, step by step, follows the heels of researchers. The hope of salvation remains only with Josh and Frank, who accidentally meet the descended member of the expedition - financier Carl Haley. It was the millionaire who sponsored such extreme entertainment.

Ioana Griffith could see the audience in the projects "Titanic", "Fantastic Four", "King Arthur", "Fireflies in the Garden" and "Imperfect bosses". Debut in the movie for 13-year-old Joan was the soap opera People of the Valley. After studying at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, Griffith continued his career in film and television.
