Diseases of the nails

The state of nails can be used to judge the health of a person as a whole. Healthy nails have a pink color. They look smooth, shiny and convex. But not everyone is doing so well. Nail diseases are a very frequent phenomenon, and this problem covers a large part of the population. If the growth of the nails is broken or they are susceptible to any deformation, this may indicate a disease. Nail diseases can have a different character. If there is redness or inflammation on the nail or around it, as well as an accumulation of pus that indicates infection, all this serves as a signal to contact a specialist.

Podnogtevaya hematoma - one of the most common problems, which brings temporary discomfort. It arises as a result of a nail injury, for example, from a strong blow. The nail changes color from black to burgundy.

Another type of nail disease is chromonihia. The nail acquires a different coloration: yellow, blue, green, red, purple. These signs indicate that a person suffers from heart disease, a violation of blood circulation, as well as organic disorders.

Some people suffer from softening of the nails. In this case, the nails become soft and thin, acquire a white color and are deformed as curvatures along the edge. This indicates an incorrect diet, organic diseases, nervous disorders.

Many people have grooves on the nails in the form of transverse or longitudinal folds. A certain number of them is the norm. However, if they exceed the limits of what is allowed, this may be a sign of some disorders, such as psoriasis, poor blood circulation, zinc deficiency. They also occur due to frostbite or severe fever.

Sometimes on the nails may occur white specks. This phenomenon is called leukonichia, and it is caused by the ingress of air under the nail as a result of various injuries.

There are such nail diseases, in which they gradually decrease, lose their luster, split and eventually fall out. This disease is called atrophy. The cause of it may be injuries at the matrix level or organic diseases. With a positive outcome, the nail can grow again.

A serious enough nail disease is onychomycosis. It is an infection that is caused by fungi parasitizing the nail. There are three types of this disease. Disease of the nails on the legs form mycoses caused by dermatophytes. In this case, the nails thicken, exfoliate, and when scraping a white powder is extracted from under the nail, which is infectious.

Mycoses that are caused by yeast fungi, mostly damage the nails on the hands. This is due to prolonged exposure to humid environments. In this case, the nail may loosen and eventually collapse.

The third type is mycosis, which is caused by mold fungi. With this defeat, the nails thicken and crumble at the ends.

Fungal nail disease is one of the most common diseases in this area. The most unpleasant is that the fungal infection can be transmitted by contact with the patient, with the joint use of hygiene items, swimming pools, saunas. Also, this disease can be infected by visiting the nail salon.

If there is any change in the appearance of the nails, do not delay with treatment or try to disguise them. Do not expect that the disease will disappear by itself. If you do not contact the doctor in time, the fungal disease can affect healthy nails, and ultimately it can lead to the loss of nails. The disease is very unpleasant and difficult to treat. However, at present, there are effective antifungal drugs that allow the nails to return to their original state. After all, well-groomed hands and beautiful healthy nails are the calling card of any person.
