Reserves of Permsky Krai - the beauty of untouched nature

Reserves of Permsky Krai, the list of which consists of two state nature reserves "Basegi" and "Vishersky", belong to the most valuable and protected areas of the Urals.

"Basegi"

This reserve was formed in 1982. It was created in order to preserve and explore a diverse animal and plant world, as well as spruce and fir forests, which are located on the slopes of the Bassega Range.

Reserves of the Perm Territory occupy vast territories. "Basegi" are located on the western macroslope of the Main Ural Range. Its main line stretches along the Bassega ridge, which consists of three separate mountain peaks: Northern Basseg, Middle and Southern. The highest point is the Middle Bassegh mountain, it rises to 994.7 meters. The 30 km long ridge is located between the rivers Usva and Vilva, which belong to the Kama basin.

Nature

State reserves of Perm Krai have preserved untouched nature. The Bassegha range consists of micaceous quartzites, phyllites and other metamorphic rocks of Ordovician age. It is the only place of the Middle Urals, untouched by cutting down the taiga. "Basegi" - a kind of shelter for many species of animals and plants in the region. Growing in its territory 27 species of plants and mushrooms are listed in the Red Book. On the slopes of the ridge grow taiga forest species, such as fir, spruce. Mountain tundra, stone placers and sub-highland woodlands formed atop the peaks.

In the area of the Bassega ridge very picturesque nature. In the local dialect the word "Baska" is applied to the description of something beautiful, wonderful. According to V. Dal, the word means "decoration", apparently from it the name of this mountain massif took place. Nearby was the famous Mount Oslyanka, which is the highest point of the Middle Urals.

This reserve is a real giant, it stretched from the south to the north for 90 km, spread out for 30 versts and occupied about 1.5% of the land of the Perm region.

From a distance it seems that their stone placers consist of small pieces of rubble. But in fact, their huge boulders, exceeding in diameter two meters. The first unpretentious plants, mastering severe mountain peaks, are kurumnik, they are covered with a multicolored crust of lichens.

To the north stretches the endless mountain tundra. On a soft veil of moss, bushy lichens and shoots of a dwarf birch, human traces are much less common than the prints of the hooves of the majestic host of these latitudes - the wild reindeer.
