Republic of Egypt: the president can do everything

Statehood in the modern sense of Egypt received in 1805, when the founder of the Sultans dynasty persuaded the Ottoman caliph to recognize himself as the ruler of the country. The dynasty lasted until 1953 and ceased as a result of the military coup.

New Egypt: President at the helm

The events that took place in the country in the fifty-second year were called the July Revolution. Formally, this was a military coup, after all, exclusively radically-minded military men were active. However, the subsequent abdication of the king and the abolition of the monarchy gave the events more weight.

At first, after the revolutionary events, in chaos and confusion, there was no possibility of holding democratic and transparent elections. The country in this difficult time was ruled by the Council of the Revolutionary Command of Egypt, headed by high-ranking military Mohammed Nagib.

Only a year later the provisional constitution of Egypt was published. It was assumed that it would operate for three years, but the transition period was protracted.

Having headed Egypt, President Naguib, immediately proceeded to carry out radical reforms, both political and economic. Particularly painful was the land reform, which provoked heated discussions in the government, although it consisted of like-minded people.

Military rule and democracy

Egypt, whose president is the head and ruler of the state, has often experienced difficult times associated with attempts by the military to seize power.

But even among the military themselves, it was not always possible to reach an understanding that led the country to serious problems, including economic consequences.

After the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak, who ruled the country for twenty-nine years, the state acquired a new constitution that could serve as an example for neighboring countries.

In such a situation it is quite natural that many are interested in the name of the president of Egypt. After all, it is this man who sets the tone for events in North Africa and the Middle East.

In June 2014, Abdul Al-Sisi began to lead Egypt. The president does not belong to any party, but is considered to be a supporter of moderate pro-Islamic views.
