Repeater - what is it? Repeater: setting, setting, mode
Each signal is gradually scattered in space. But our civilization is now very strongly tied up in order that all the data fall into the destination in its entirety. And how to do it? So something is needed that could strengthen or repeat them. And then the router repeater comes to the rescue. What it is? How does it function? What are the modes of operation and how to configure them? Here is a short list of the issues discussed.
Repeater - what is it and where is it applied?
Application
- When it is necessary to get a stable connection in a place where there is a weak reception (the countryside or at a considerable distance from the cities). Here the problem is solved thanks to the donor antenna, which is highly located and has a sharp directionality in one direction.
- To maintain the quality of communication in a territory that is shielded by a relief or building structure (s). Important is the location of the antenna in the line of sight of the phone.
Repeaters are used in metro and underground levels of various buildings (shopping centers). As a rule, they support only one communication range: GSM-1800, CDMA or GSM-900. Also, the presence of such devices positively affects the duration of the work of phones without recharging due to the fact that they do not need to search intensively for the signal. Due to the reduction of interference with other radio electronic circuits in the nearest territory, they found application in passenger aircraft. By the way, some other devices can be switched to repeater mode.
Principle of operation
Installation
Connect the antenna and repeater connectors. In this case, make sure that the surface of the HF is clean. If there is dust or moisture inside, you should use a cotton swab or rags soaked before rubbing alcohol, and then dry. Connect the adapter to the power supply. It is already connected to the repeater. So, the device is now installed and can function. But before that you need to choose how it will work. Start configuring the system according to the following possible modes.
Access Point (AP) mode
It is used to make the device work as a wireless access point for Wi-Fi. Here everything is tied to the SSID. Therefore, if you want to make the device work like that, you must enter all the data of the connection network.
Wireless Bridge mode
It is necessary to connect two independent wired networks. Also, this mode can act as a wireless Ethernet extension that will connect two parts of the same whole. To do this, just enable it, set the necessary parameters - and you can work.
AP / Bridge mode (AP + Bridge)
Repeater mode Wireless Repeater (Bridge / Repeater)
It is necessary to connect two points in conditions when a direct connection between them is not possible. In fact, this mode is used to relay radio signals between them. Moreover, there can be more than two points / bridges connected together, and it is possible to create even entire "circuits", based on the repeater. What is it, I think, do not need to explain. To do this, enter the identifying parameters and start the device.
Roaming mode
This is not a self-tuning, but an addition to Access Point. If there are several connection points, and clients periodically move between the zones of their influence, the system chooses to work through the one that provides the largest signal. The roaming function is to collect and transmit information about wireless stations. Due to this, the user will not feel that the communication breaks periodically, because he immediately moves to another point.
