"Recovering brush" in "Photoshop": how to use and what errors can be

Virtually no one now uses film cameras, and digital cameras allow you to edit pictures through special programs. One of the means of correcting inaccuracies in the image or removing various spots is the "Restoring Brush" in Photoshop, and we'll talk about it.

What is Photoshop?

With the development of digital cameras, there was a need for the development of a special multifunctional editor. "Photoshop" was developed in the company Adobe Systems and was used to work with growth images, but in its functionality also has some point tools.

To date, "Photoshop" is used for processing both amateur and professional shots. The program runs on Windows and Mac OS operating systems.

In its assortment, the program has more than a hundred different tools and functions, as well as a large number of effects for editing photos. Including the "Restoring Brush" in "Photoshop" - one way to adjust the pictures.

What is a "Restoring Brush"?

"Restoring Brush" is a tool that can eliminate defects based on nearby areas in the picture. This function not only produces the drawing with the pixels selected in the picture, but also compares the illumination, transparency and darkness. Thanks to this in the recovery process, a patch is obtained that does not differ from the rest of the image.

Such a functional as the "Recovering Brush" in "Photoshop", is applicable not only to images, but also to animation or video clips.

How to use

To use this tool, select it in the toolbar. And then do the following.

First, click on the brush sample to select the parameters.

  • If you work with the tablet in the "Size" menu, select "Pen Press", and also put "Copy Wheel" - this will allow you to better use the program on the sensitive screen of the device. If during the work you do not need to zoom in or delete the photo, then click on "Disable".
  • Overlay mode. To preserve the noise and grainy structure of the film, use a soft-tip brush and click on "Replace".
  • The source of the pixels for the restoration work. There are two options: "Sample" - then pixels from the active image or "Pattern" will be used - they will be taken from the pattern.
  • Alignment is necessary to set for continuous sampling of pixels, so that you do not lose the desired point when releasing the mouse button. If it is not required, then remove the mark near this column.
  • The sample is selected from these layers. If you need to fix only the current layer, then put the option active, if several, then all layers, and also have the ability to set "current and next."
  • Random - this parameter should be lowered to a minimum when working with a coarse-grained image.

Secondly, set the production point. To do this, click in any recovery area with the Alt key pressed. When developing several images at once, consider that they should have the same color scale.

Third, you can put additional parameters in the "Clone Source" panel, where you can define up to five different sources of output.

When you release the mouse button, the image is edited. We looked at how to use the "Restoring Brush" in Photoshop. Now we pass to the point variant.

Sharpen Brush

If you need to quickly remove any stains from the image or other minor defects, then the dot "Recover Brush" in Photoshop will help. It works by analogy with the usual one, that is, it uses pixels and associates them with the image, but it does not need to specify a point for the sample. It takes as a base the area around the area to be restored.

To make adjustments to the image with this tool, do the following:

  1. Select the dot brush on the toolbar, it is better to add more diameter to the recovery area.
  2. Select the area of pixels at the edge of which the overlay should occur, and use them to create the texture. And also add a rating parameter for the nearest content to fill the area without noticeable boundaries.
  3. Select the "sample all layers". Only then click on the correction area.

Thus, a dotted "Recovering Brush" in "Photoshop" will fix the defective image.

What to do if an error occurs

Sometimes errors may occur due to the operation of this tool. In the most critical situations, if the "Recovering Brush" does not work in "Photoshop" and other editing elements are also not available, you should reinstall the program when the antivirus is disabled.

If the incorrectness of the work is related only to the brush itself, then, most likely, you have chosen the wrong layers or the use of stamps. Check all the settings of the "Restore Brush" on the above sample and try again.
