Ornaments and patterns on the dishes

Since ancient times people have tried to make the world around them more beautiful. Therefore, they decorated everything that surrounded them: the walls of dwellings, clothing, household items. The simplest were the patterns on the dishes, consisting of repetitive geometric shapes, segments, dots. Gradually, plant elements began to be weaved into ornaments, symbolically close to geometric ones.

Geometric ornaments on the dishes

Ornaments are drawings in which one (main) part is repeated. Usually the patterns on the dishes have ornaments in the strip, which either encircle the jugs, glasses, vases, or pass around the edges of the plates, saucers, trays, bowls, pans and other kitchen utensils.

However, today the art of decorating dishes has moved far ahead. Artists who paint plates and services do not want to be limited to geometric ornaments. Such a technique, like bas-reliefs, when decorating dishes is used together with patterns in the strip. Thus, it becomes clear that the patterns on the dishes are not only done with colors.

Subject painting of dishes

Everyone knows the coffee sets "Shepherdess", painted with plot pictures of a romantic visit of a grandee and a young shepherdess - each subject is painted differently from the others, illustrating one of the plots of the meeting. Patterns on the dishes "Shepherdess" in the form of a geometric ornament can be seen only on the edges of cups and saucers. This method of painting is used today by many companies, famous modern brands that make dishes.

Drafting in the second grade

Today in the curriculum often use this method of teaching, as drafting. For example, second-graders in the mathematics class are offered such a project: "Patterns on dishes and ornaments: shape, alternation of elements, the rule of their location one after another".

First, the student must define the words "pattern", "ornament", "geometric figures", "bas-relief". Then it explains how the ornaments can be.

Expounding the material further, children distinguish patterns from combinations of points and continuous, zigzag or tortuous lines. Describing these or other patterns on the dishes, photos of which are provided in the project, the child notes whether they are painted or have a bas-relief.

Master class in the project

You can also include in the project a master class for decorating dishes with geometric ornaments. This requires a camera and didactic material: a paper circle simulating a plate, and multi-colored geometric shapes: circles, triangles, rhombuses, squares.

- 1 photo must capture all the material prepared for work.

- 2 photos - the first step, for example, sticking on a plate diamonds at the same distance from each other.

- 3 photos - the second step, for example, the arrangement between the rhombs of the circles.

- 4 photos - the third step, during which a distribution is made between the circles of triangles.

- 5 photos can be final, which captures the final product - a finished decorated plate.

Since the patterns on the dishes can be in the form of solid lines (straight, wavy or zigzag), it is appropriate to use this method of painting in the master class.

Under each photo in the master class, you need to make an exhaustive description of the action.
