How to write Windows to a USB flash drive yourself

Today we will talk about how to write Windows on a USB flash drive. And not just write down, but make this drive bootable. What does it mean? The fact that you can use this removable device to install on the computer or laptop operating system, without resorting to the help of CDs. This question is especially acute for netbook owners. And the installation procedure itself is much faster with a flash drive.

Why write Windows XP to a USB flash drive and install it better than doing the same thing from the disk? Now I will list the main advantages of this method. We all know that DVDs sooner or later become unusable due to scratches on their surface. As soon as this happens, the data written on them will become inaccessible, accordingly, the installation of the operating system will become impossible (various errors, hangs, etc.) will appear. With a flash drive this will never happen. You can store as many files as you like.

The second advantage, due to which it is worth writing Windows on a USB flash drive - high speed. Installation is much faster than with laser discs. However, not for all computers this option will be possible. Devices older, or rather, their motherboards, simply can not support this function. Sometimes the problem is solved by reflashing the BIOS.

So, let's move on to how to write Windows to a USB flash drive. You will need a removable flash drive, an image of your operating system, as well as a special software called Ultra ISO. Prepare all this, and we will proceed.

As soon as you decide on your distribution, choose a flash drive that has a size slightly larger than the image itself. In my case, the drive was designed for four gigabytes, and the image took a little more than three and a half. You must connect the USB flash drive to your laptop or computer, then run the above software, and you need to do this with administrator rights.

When the program starts, we will need to open our image in it. To do this, open the menu with the "File" button and select the open tab. Before you should appear a window that allows you to select an image. After that you will have to go to the directory containing your image. Click on it with a double click.

We continue to understand how to write Windows on a USB flash drive. From the top of the program menu, select the item called "Boot", and then go to the hard drive image record. Next, you need to select the letter that corresponds to your flash drive in the list of disk devices, and then start the formatting process. Just remember that when you perform this process, all data from your drive will be deleted. Therefore, if you have something important there, save it somewhere else.

When the formatting is complete, you will have a device from which you can reinstall the operating system. Just do not forget to allow in the BIOS to download from your USB-devices. That's all the necessary actions for the fulfillment of our task, set at the very beginning of this article. I hope you understand how to write Windows on a USB flash drive.
