The Russian Academy of Justice (RAP) is an educational institution founded by Presidential Decree No. 528 in 1998. The function of the founder is performed by the Supreme and Supreme Arbitration Courts of the Russian Federation.

Goals and objectives

Previously, higher education institutions did not provide specialized training for the judiciary. The emergence of civil society requires broadening the role of judicial protection in terms of human rights and freedoms, effectively combating the manifestation of extremism, terrorism and crime. Only professionals are able to effectively manage the judicial system. To train personnel with specialized legal education , a specialized educational scientific institution was established. There are no analogues of the RAP of justice. The Academy's concept is that the future judge should start improving professional skills as early as possible, be able to apply knowledge competently, and develop the necessary personal qualities.

Stages of training

1. College (admission from the 9th grade).
2. University.
3. Postgraduate studies, doctoral studies.
4. Improvement of professional skills of the court apparatus and acting judges. Annually about 3,000 judges and more than 9,000 employees of the courts and the Judicial Department are trained at the Academy.
5. Teaching, scientific work.

Training Centers

A wide network of institutions has been established in the RAJ system of justice. The Academy employs over 2,000 people, including more than a hundred professors and doctors of science. In addition to the head center in Moscow, 10 branches are open across Russia.

The level of education

RAP - Academy of Justice - has already won the status of the most prestigious educational institution, standing in line with Moscow State University, MSUA and other institutions. Anticipating the importance of specialized education, the founders sent a powerful teaching staff to the academy. The majority of workers have practical experience in state authorities, courts, are leading economists, scientists, lawyers.

Educational process

There are 7 faculties and 23 departments in the academy. The main directions of training: economics, finance, law, management, retraining of judges, advanced training, military department, physical culture, philosophy and social-humanitarian, general educational disciplines, foreign languages, computer science and mathematics.

Over 17,000 students study at the academy. Training is carried out on a budgetary and contractual basis. The RAP of Justice invites the entrants to modern training programs, including the preparation of bachelors in the areas of jurisprudence and management. Also, masters of jurisprudence are trained in the areas in demand: for judicial work on resolving economic disputes, corporate lawyers, lawyers in fiscal law and taxation.

Additional Features

For convenience, a portal has been created, where at any time students can study educational and methodological materials online. Full-time students are granted a respite from military service. After training at the military department , the transfer to the reserve is made with the assignment of the officer rank "lieutenant of justice".

College students have two types of scholarships - academic and social. They are paid only to students studying on a budgetary basis. Academic scholarship is accrued according to the results of the winter and summer sessions. This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed the semester for "good" and "excellent".

The international cooperation

The RAP of justice actively and productively cooperates with Russian and foreign universities. Students can master an additional international program: distance learning in the Moscow branch with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree from the University of London. Specialists of international legal specialization who are able to conduct office work in two foreign languages are trained here. The RAP team is a multiple prize winner of international law competitions. Philip Chesop - one of the most prestigious in the world.

Practice

Particular attention is paid to the acquisition of practical skills by students. Practice students are held in the courts, the legal profession, the judiciary, the notary, the prosecutor's office under the supervision of instructors-leaders of practice.

There is an opportunity to work in the legal clinic of the Academy, where students under the guidance of teachers-curators are holding free legal consultations for unprotected categories of citizens.

Social activity

The Academy has an active student theater, KVN, vocal and dance studios. An annual creative competition "Constellation" is held among Russian branches, the newspaper RAP of justice "Themis" is published.

Employment

After the termination of the RAP, it is possible to continue studying in the graduate school in 11 scientific specialties with the assignment of a scientific degree. Today thousands of graduates successfully work in the judicial system, government bodies, in large companies. More than 80 graduates work in the Supreme and Higher Arbitration Courts of the Russian Federation.

A specialized employment service has been established to help graduates find a job, so 90% of young professionals work in their specialty. Directly in the judicial system - 27%. There is a club for mutual assistance of graduates.

RAP Justice: Feedback

According to feedback, the level of study at the academy is very high. Much attention is paid to the teaching and learning (profile lectures), production (in government institutions), pre-diploma practice. Many students are attracted to the opportunity to study distantly at King's College London, so special attention is paid to in-depth study of languages. In contrast to a busy educational program, many entertaining events, creative competitions are organized, a visit to a nightclub at the Academy's expense once a month. You can pay for training one time for the whole year (the cost in the contract is fixed for the entire period of study) or 2 times (for semesters).
