Prostate is the gland of internal secretion in men. It is located in the center of the pelvis, surrounds the proximal part of the urethra and produces a secret that dilutes the sperm and provides sperm motility.
The main etiological factors of prostate cancer are hormonal changes, high concentration of testosterone, genetic predisposition, cadmium poisoning, irrational nutrition, high sexual activity.
Prostate cancer is manifested by frequent urination, pain in the perineum and the appearance of blood in the sperm and urine. With metastases, there are pains in the bones and swelling of the legs.
Particular attention is required for precancerous conditions such as atypical hyperplasia or intraepithelial neoplasia, since these conditions can become malignant. In this case, patients should already undergo complete treatment of prostate cancer.
In Israel, there are many medical institutions that provide medical care to men who have been diagnosed with a malignant tumor.
It should be noted that the treatment of prostate cancer in Israel is carried out only after a thorough examination, which includes assays for the detection of antigen, rectal examination of the prostate, and transrectal echography.
After a clear diagnosis of prostate cancer, the following treatment methods are used.
• Radiotherapy - the therapeutic effect of radioactive radiation (directed at the destruction of cancer cells). This technique is used for localized tumors and for the detection of cancer in the early stages. Radiotherapy is also used in the severe course of the cancer process in order to facilitate clinical manifestations and reduce the size of tumors. It should be noted that there is a separate type of radiotherapy - brachytherapy, in which the source of irradiation is injected directly into the tumor formation.
• Treatment of prostate cancer in Israel is carried out and by exposure to high-power ultrasonic waves. When exposed to ultrasound, cancer cells, if one may so express it, heat up and then break down. This treatment technique is used for small tumors.
• In some cases, expectant management may be used when simply monitoring the condition of patients and the nature of tumor growth. This tactic is spreading in the detection of cancer in elderly men, as well as among those patients who have strict contraindications to prompt treatment or hormone intake.
• Surgical treatment consists in removing the tumor during surgery called prostatectomy.
