Planting garlic. Tips for truck farmers

Garlic - a very popular vegetable, which has a piquant, pronounced taste. It is widely used in cooking, as a component for cooking a wide variety of dishes. And about the benefits of garlic, for sure, everyone heard. It is a unique natural phytoncid capable of destroying viruses, fungi and bacteria. The use of garlic increases immunity and is especially useful during seasonal epidemics of ARVI and influenza.

Today, truck farmers grow two kinds of garlic - giving arrows (winter varieties) and non-sparing (can be both spring and winter). But still landing garlic for the winter has become more common, since in this case it is possible to get more serious crops, and even denticles in this variety are larger. The planting of each variety of this healthy vegetable has its own characteristics, which must be taken into account so that the harvest is worthy.

Experienced horticulturists know that any vegetable crop grows better in the areas on which certain plant species were grown last year, and much worse if the predecessor was inappropriate. Planting garlic ideally should be carried out on beds where cabbage, pumpkin, beans, peas or forage grasses grew. Good results are also obtained by planting on pure vapors. The worst results come from planting after potatoes or tomatoes.

For winter sowing of garlic it is necessary to select large bulbs that do not have any damage. Separate the planting material into separate denticles should not be done in advance, it is better to do this immediately before planting. For disinfection, denticles are recommended to be treated with a 1% solution of copper sulfate.

Garlic planting in autumn is carried out at a time when the soil temperature reached 10-12 degrees. As a rule, this happens in the beginning or the middle of October. The best sites are those where the soil is rich in nutrients and has a neutral reaction. However, the introduction of fresh manure immediately before planting vegetables is strictly prohibited.

The soil should be well loosened, the garlic planting is carried out by deepening the denticles (sharp tips up) to 6-10 cm in the soil. The larger the planting material used, the greater the depth of planting. It is also necessary to take into account the soil quality. Light sandy soils allow greater penetration, on heavier loams, the denticles are planted to a shallower depth.

The distance between the rows should be about twenty centimeters, and between neighboring plants - 10-12 cm.

Winter planting of garlic should not be carried out on high ground, as well as in purged places, because in winter, a sufficient amount of snow can not accumulate on the bed, and the planted teeth can simply die from the cold. But the lowlands for planting this vegetable are not suitable, since in such places there may be an excess of moisture, which will have a detrimental effect on the crop.

Planting garlic in spring is carried out while the soil warms up a little and dries out, that is, usually in mid-April. The ground before planting should be dug up, and the first weeds - removed. Simultaneously with digging, it is very useful to add humus to the soil.

Then the soil in the beds is loosened and the rows are planned along which the denticles will be planted. At a spring planting, a less deepening is used than when planting under the winter. Depth of landing - up to five centimeters. The distance between the rows should be centimeters fifteen to seventeen, and between individual plants - about a decimeter.

During the vegetation of both varieties of garlic, it can be fed with nitrogen fertilizers. Obligatory operation is weeding and easy hilling. If there is little rain, then the beds should be watered, but, you need to remember that excessive moisture is fatal for garlic.

Cleaning of vegetables planted for the winter is made in August. Harvest of spring garlic is collected in the middle-end of September.
