In 2007, Hyundai Motor CIS was established to promote and support the Hyundai brand cars. In 2010, on its base in St. Petersburg, the construction of a full-cycle assembly plant, the Hyundai plant (St. Petersburg), was started. Description

The first Russian enterprises that worked on assembly of foreign cars, mainly used components from abroad, collecting cars as designers. This is the beginning of the production of a four-wheeled vehicle. In its walls, huge rolls of sheet metal are transformed into car body elements. Here, to within a tenth of a millimeter, a complex curved shape is provided to the hood, luggage compartment, sidewalls, roof, doors and other elements of the vehicle.

Installed automated presses with a capacity of 800-2300 tons, despite their impressive dimensions, have the enviable flexibility: it takes quite a bit of time to replace the molds and start manufacturing parts for another model or modification. The productivity of only one press is such that, with continuous operation, it is capable of producing 10-14 thousand blanks per day. Such a volume is redundant for the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, so, having manufactured the required lot, it is stopped for adjustment or maintenance.

In total, the unit has 4 units:

  • The first, most powerful press squeezes the primary volume blanks.
  • Then they enter the working zone of the second press, where technological holes are cut for the nodes, sensors, mechanisms and devices.
  • The third press cuts off excess metal.
  • The fourth press is designed to bend the edges, thereby preparing the panel for the welding process.

In total, about 40 types of body elements are produced in the workshop. The finished parts are moved to temporary storage warehouses.

Welding shop

In its walls separate elements are collected in a single frame. Here the main actors are high-tech robots. 120 automated welding machines-manipulators under the supervision of operators produce the most critical part of the work. In six auxiliary sections, the details of the hood, luggage compartment, sidewall, door and bottom are welded separately. On the main conductor they are united into a single whole - into the body.

The work of the welding conveyor is a fascinating sight. Smart machines-transformers with the highest precision and superhuman agility welded shiny under the lamps metal surfaces. Spots of sparks now and then break out in the contact zone. Car bodies with a continuous stream move along the conveyor belt, "fouling" with new elements, and then follow the painting.

Painting shop

Here operators in protective suits, reminiscent of astronauts, and smart machines carry out the application of a protective coating and decorative paint layer. Specially selected compositions of paints, with proper use and proper care, can retain their properties for decades. Micro sputtering is carried out on a prepared metal surface, which eliminates the peeling of the pigment layer and the formation of spiders due to moisture penetration into the microcracks.

Assembly shop

On its assembly line, the "bare" bodies are "overgrown" with a useful "stuffing":

  • Nodes, mechanisms and aggregates;
  • Soundproof and decorative elements;
  • Glasses, mirrors, seats;
  • Instrument panel and electronic systems.

Employees at work use the hi-tech tool, each stage of work passes additional check. The build quality is close to ideal. Only the professionals of their business work in the shop.

Naturally, the model line does not end on the Solaris. Here they collect the "Kia Rio" model, which has gained a high popularity in the world. In 2016, a promising "parketnik" Creta was launched in the series. For the sake of its production, the capacities on which Hyundai Solaris was previously assembled with the hatchback body (the sedan continues to be produced) are freed.

The crossover is adapted for Russian realities: the volume of the washer tank is increased, the clearance is high, the motors are selected in accordance with the quality of the fuel. The management expects to produce 4-5 thousand cars of this brand every month from the conveyor. In 2017, the total capacity of the plant can reach 230,000 units of vehicles.
