Optimism is the ability to see the positive in any life situation

Every day a lot of events are happening with a person - joyful, funny, sad, annoying, unpleasant ... Unfortunately, the last is much more. So life is arranged. And if you still listen to news about world events, it seems that there is nothing good and positive at all. "Everything is bad ... And tomorrow it will probably get worse ..." - with a heavy sigh, the pessimist will say, and the optimist will smile cheerfully and say: "Everything can not always be bad! Most likely, tomorrow something nice is waiting for us. " So people are arranged: some people see only negative in everything, and others try to go through life, raising their heads, and they hope for luck and happiness.

The word "optimism" means ...

Let's figure it out. Psychologists argue that optimism is the ability to see in any, even negative, situation something good. It is the belief that the world is dominated by good, and in the end it will win. Optimism is the ability not to stop at what has been achieved. It is a desire to constantly improve ourselves, other people and the whole world. An optimistic person always sees presence, not absence. A vivid example with a glass that is half full, according to the optimist, and according to the pessimist, is half empty. This, of course, is an anecdote. But it reflects the whole essence of optimism and pessimism.

A little bit about philosophy

In philosophy there is also such a thing as epistemological optimism. Let's see what it is. Epistemological optimism is one of the directions in epistemology, the representatives of which assert that man, in principle, has enormous and unlimited possibilities on the way to cognizing the world, its various objects, and, of course, himself. There are, however, some difficulties that are historical in nature, but humanity must eventually overcome them and open all the secrets of the universe. One of the brightest representatives of the theory of epistemological optimism was Plato, who argued that there is an "ideal world" that all souls fall into after death. However, after a second birth, they forget about it. The philosopher believed that the purpose of the soul is to remember that ideal world and to embody it on Earth. He argued that knowledge is just a reminder. The opposite concept to epistemological optimism is epistemological pessimism, which is based on the assertion that man is limited in his cognitive abilities and humanity will never come to "truth."

Is it easy to be an optimist?

We have already said that optimism is the ability to enjoy life, no matter what. That's great, is not it? But is it easy to be an optimist? It is easy in the case when everything in life develops as a person wants. True friends, a wonderful loving family, a prestigious job. But, unfortunately, very often everything is not so rosy. Death of relatives, betrayal by friends, health problems. Such events can drive everyone depressed, even a person who is extremely optimistic. Is not it? However, the strength of optimism lies in experiencing the above difficulties with a high head and with a positive attitude. And always rely only on the best. The real optimist understands that all his problems are temporary, and that the "black band" will necessarily be followed by "white", it is only necessary to wait for it. And he always does this, because the difficulties are sent to us so that we can endure them courageously, learn a lesson for ourselves and become wiser, more committed, more resolute.

We become optimists!

Many are interested in how to become an optimist, because very often without a positive attitude it can be very difficult to survive a variety of unpleasant life situations. It should be noted that optimism is a character trait, a pessimist can hardly learn to look at the world through rose-colored glasses, but you can certainly try and achieve some results.

  1. Learn to notice good and bright in any little things: good weather, meeting with a friend, buying a beautiful thing, an interesting book ...
  2. Concentrate your attention on the good that you already have, and also appreciate it. After all, as they say, "what we do not have ...". Continuing to know everything ... It's very painful to realize that the amazing was near, but there was no understanding of it.
  3. If something goes wrong in your life, how you would like it, think about why it happens. Very often the reason is in ourselves. Having changed your attitude to the problem, you can solve it.
  4. Communicate with the optimists! A society of pessimistic people can not improve your mood and will not give you faith in yourself.
  5. Watch comedy movies, as well as films that tell about people who are strong in spirit.
  6. Read the positive books.
  7. Give yourself and your loved ones little joys every day - and you will see that the world is becoming more colorful.

Finally

Enjoy life and be optimistic! Smile to you and good mood! Treat life in a philosophical way. Remember that while you and your close people are alive, there are no unsolvable problems!
