Nature of Sweden: photo, description of features

Everyone knows that Scandinavia is a harsh region with special, rather harsh climatic conditions. However, the region is notable for its beauty, and therefore attracts many tourists from all over the world. One of the countries worthy of our attention is Sweden. This prosperous European country annually hosts thousands of guests. A special story deserves the nature of Sweden. About her speech will go in today's article.

Climate

Thanks to the Gulf Stream, a temperate climate has formed in Sweden. However, it should immediately be noted that this is characteristic only of the southern and south-western regions of the country. For example, in Stockholm, the average January temperature is -3 ° C, in July this figure is 18.5 ° C.

If we talk about the northern, eastern and western regions of the country, then the winters are already colder. The summer is cool enough and not too long. A small part of the north of the country is located in the Arctic Circle. Therefore, the subarctic climate dictates its conditions there . Here the average temperature in winter is about -15 ° C. It goes without saying that the snow does not come down here for six months.

Distinctive features

In general, the nature of Sweden is such that its territory is bordered by beautiful green fields, picturesque and inviting islands of the south, severe and gloomy tundra of northern Lapland, hills and forest-covered cliffs of the west. At the same time, no one will be indifferent to the majestic shores of the calm Gulf of Bothnia and simply a gigantic system of lakes with a great many wild animals.

Now let's stop at the most beautiful places in the country, having studied them in the most detail.

Horus Ocucutan

This mountain is located in the central province of the state called Yamtland. It rises above sea level at 1420 meters, 1048 of which are above the surface of Lake Ore. In translation from the Old Norse language, the name of the mountain is translated as "tip".

This peak in summer is densely covered with green grass. Here grow rare species of plants, nest different birds. To observe all this beauty it is possible without damage to nature by specially created for walks trails.

The nature of Sweden is such that in winter this mountain, due to 100% moisture, is transformed into a monolithic glacier covered with snow. Thanks to this, many tourists here prefer to spend their time on downhill skiing. The top of the rocky system is crowned with a restaurant called "Bistrologicct", from which you can observe a picturesque panorama of the surrounding horizon.

Under the protection of the state: the Ristafallet waterfall

This miracle of nature is located on the river, which has an interesting name Indalsalven. The waterfall can be reached via the E14 motorway. Its height above sea level is 355 m. This most powerful stream of water divides the forest massif into the northern and southern parts. It is interesting that the southern part of the waterfall is not visible from the north, and vice versa. The fall of the water occurs from a height of 14 m. A little higher and lower from the waterfall you can meet fishermen catching grayling or trout.

Due to the fact that a special and even humid climate has formed near the descending water mass , it is possible to find a specific ecosystem under state protection. In this zone, rare species of lichens grow and live animals listed in the Red Book. It is worth saying that here the nature of Sweden has never come under the influence of man.

If desired, the waterfall can be seen in one film called "Roni, the daughter of a robber". It was based on a story written by Astrid Lindgren.

The biggest waterfall in the country

This water body is called Tannforsen. It is 22 km away from the resort of Ore and has a total height of 38 m. The height of the fall is 32 m. The amount of water in the waterfall varies depending on the season. In the last century, not once for public discussion was the question of starting to use this natural heritage as a source of electrical energy. However, the Swedish people are still against this idea.

Around the waterfall grows 21 species of rare and endangered lichens. They can not be found anywhere else on the European continent.

From February to April, tourists can visit the cave located directly under the waterfall.

"Abisko"

This is the name of the national park that lies in the Lapland province. It is in the immediate vicinity of the border with Norway. The territory of the park starts from Lake Turnerek and lies 15 km to the south-west. The total area of this land, protected at the legislative level, is about 77 km 2 . The date of the foundation of the park is 1909.

It is here that the nature of Sweden, the photo of which is reproduced below, was preserved in its original form. However, its resources are used for scientific purposes. In 1935, the research station "Abisko" merged with the Swedish Academy of Sciences. In the summer you can enjoy the white nights, and in the winter - the northern lights.

Greetings from space

Lake Siljan is another asset that the nature of Sweden can boast of. In short, this pond is a huge crater formed after a meteorite landfall 370 million years ago. For many years, this cavity has become covered with a thick layer of limestone. The lake has an area that allows it to occupy the seventh line in the rating of the largest lakes in Sweden.

Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it has a lot of islands, the longest of which is not more than 7.5 km.

Animal world

The nature of Sweden, the description of which includes not only the flora, but also the fauna, is diverse. For example, to meet a squirrel, it is not necessary to go to the forest, as it can be seen in the city as well.

In the forests there are many brown bears, which, despite their clubfoot, move very fast. Another animal, similar to a bear, is a wolverine. This hunter has a powerful jaw and large teeth. He practically does not have enemies. Moves quickly and silently, but only lives ten years.

In addition, the nature of Sweden is rich in hares, elks, foxes, muskrats and American mink.
