London Underground - a place you should visit

Do you love London? Probably, only a few will give a negative answer to this question. England is loved by true romantics and connoisseurs of beauty. And what could be better than to visit in the rush hour of the London Underground? To see people hurrying somewhere, to admire the magnificent underground architecture and completely immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the underground city's life ...

Of course, in the capital of Great Britain there is a huge number of interesting places worth visiting. But London's metro is a special world. And now you will know why.

By the beginning of the 19th century, the movement in London was extremely difficult. What to say about the highway, even if pedestrians did not have enough space (especially in the city center). For this reason, the authorities thought about how to solve this problem. And so, it happened: the London Underground began its work in 1863, because of what proudly wears the honorary title of the oldest metro in the world! Since then, there have been built about 270 stations, and the daily "attendance" is now about 3.5-4 million people!

The London Underground operates every day from half past five in the morning until half past one in the morning. However, on Sunday the schedule is somewhat different: the beginning of the work is at 7 am, and the ending - at 23.30.

The London Metro includes 6 zones. The first, the most important, is the underground part of the city center. Accordingly, from the second to the sixth zone, the expansion of the radius toward the margins begins. Strangely enough, in the central part of the trip costs the cheapest - 2 pounds. However, using the London Underground is expensive. And not only to those who live in the city constantly, but also to tourists who decided to stay here for only a couple of weeks. Therefore, it will be better if you get something like a Russian travel card - Travelcard.

In the eastern part of the London Underground there is a station West Ham. She is curious that she is a favorite place for pigeons who live here with the goal of getting more food. And, judging by the fact that they do not intend to change their place of residence, they succeed!

London Metro has an incredible number of escalators: there are 409 of them all! According to rough estimates, within 7 days they overcome the distance equal to two revolutions of the globe.

As you know, London is one of the most read cities. And the place where Englishmen are most often immersed in book (as well as newspaper and magazine) worlds is certainly the metro. Those who forgot the periodicals at home are given the opportunity to take it absolutely for free: the newspaper "Metro" and "The Evening Standard" are available at almost all stations.

However, no matter how interesting the London Underground, sad facts about it, too, abound. For example, there are so many people who commit suicide by rushing under a train that they were even given a special name - one-unders. But even if you love life and do not intend to interrupt it arbitrarily, be attentive: a huge number of accidents occur because of the often lying around here ... green grapes.

We hope, however, that this will not scare you, but will only warn you, and during the trip to London you will adhere to certain safety rules. Believe me, the beauty of the city is worth it!
