Solar Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo

2007 was marked for the residents of Russia with good news about the multiplication of the church heritage of the region. This time, the changes have affected the Western Administrative District of the Russian Federation.

In the city administration of a small town, a decision was announced to erect a new Temple of Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo, named after the holy founder of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.

About St. Sergius of Radonezh

St. Sergius was a mentor for many saints canonized by the church, he taught them indefatigably and later became the patron and hegumen of all Russia. The whole Russian Land honored the Holy Face and elevated it to a model of humility and meekness for local laymen and monks.

Venerable Sergius gave his heart to the blessing of princes and troops during the Kulikovo battle, he prayed tirelessly for the victory in the battle of Dimitry Donskoi, he was heartbroken during the Tatar yoke in Russia. All the dead, who gave their lives for the Holy Land and folded their heads, he remembered day and night.

Sergius of Radonezh was a faithful servant of the Church, Holy Trinity, and worshiped the image of Divine Love.

About the construction of the Temple

Local authorities decided to build the Temple of Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo in the western part of the neighborhood, on Bogdanova Street.

The decision on the implementation of the project on the construction of an object called the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was adopted after the appeal of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II to the local authorities. He supported the Orthodox parish in the intention to erect the Church of Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo from the Moscow diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and blessed to conduct work.

Yuri Alpatov, prefect of Moscow's Western Administrative District, and Vladimir Resin, first deputy mayor of Moscow in the Government, were instructed to supervise the execution of the order for the construction of the Temple.

The first stage of the forthcoming work was the release of the occupied site and the cleaning of the adjacent territory. Previously, this place was an open parking car, which could accommodate about 70 cars. To build the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was decided at the expense of the involved and own means of church ministers. Initially, the deadlines and construction plans were not specified.

As a result of the construction, a building with a total area of 1,770 m² was built, covering an area of approximately 0.54 hectares. As it was planned, funding was provided through donations - funds raised by legal entities, individuals and Orthodox parishioners.

The walls of the Temple are in Byzantine style, which prevails in the architecture of many churches and cathedrals. The building itself accommodates the Upper Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh and two chapels named after Alexander Nevsky and Xenia of Petersburg. There is also a lower church-baptismal church, whose name was given by the Holy Blessed Prince Vladimir.

Completed construction of the facility was in 2011, the total duration of work - 4 years from the date of signing the relevant documents for permission to erect the Temple in Solntsevo. The Temple opens its doors from 10:00 to 20:00, and on liturgical days, the mode of operation is set accordingly with a timetable.

Life of the Orthodox parish of the Temple

At the Temple there is a rather large number of clergy headed by Archpriest George Studenov. The Sunday school operates, having three groups - the younger, the middle and the senior. To all comers, choral singing and a children's studio of ceramics are available. For parents who want to introduce the child to the church life, there is a children's library, and for those who are aimed at studying the Church language language, classes are held weekly in the Temple in two groups:

  • Initial (every Tuesday from 19:00 to 20:00);
  • Group 2 year (every Sunday from 12:00 to 13:00).

Variety of possibilities

For parishioners from 15 years and older, a youth discussion club has been created specifically. All interested and interested persons can join the group and on Sundays participate in meetings that provide for:

  • Thematic discussions;
  • Watching movies and the subsequent discussion of the plot;
  • Communication with clergymen, who can ask any question and consult on an exciting situation.

Saturday evenings are offered:

  • Study the Scriptures;
  • To take a course on the basics of spiritual life, get acquainted with the basics of the Orthodox faith;
  • Conduct joint excursions to holy sites and pilgrimage tours;
  • To participate in the local organization of sports competitions;
  • To participate in public organizations, in the social and liturgical life of the parish;
  • Organize church and parish local festivals and celebrations;
  • Engage in creativity;
  • To participate in meetings with interesting people.
