LIAZ 5292: low-floor city bus with many modifications

The city bus LiAZ-5292 (large class, low-floor configuration) was presented at the Moscow Motor Show in 2003. The machine at that time was equipped with a Caterpillar powertrain of the lateral configuration and combined with an automatic transmission of the company Voith. The chassis consisted of two bridge bridges . The LiAZ-5292 bus was put into serial production and began to arrive in small lots in the car parks of Moscow, as well as in Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kursk and other large cities.

Modernization

The model itself did not justify itself, in Moscow, in the year of 2014, its mass write-offs began. It took a deep modernization, replacing the engine with a more powerful one, improving the steering gear and door servos. The finalized bus was given the index 5292-20. The main difference from the basic model was a new engine MAN D0836 LON, corresponding to environmental standards Euro 4. The air conditioning systems were installed in two types - "Convect" and "Speros". In the summer of 2011, mass deliveries of a new model to Moscow's auto industry and to selected Russian regions began.

Glass doors

The next modification of LiAZ-5292-22 was launched in December 2013. The machine was equipped with solid glass doors with a rubber-metal frame. All produced buses of this modification were placed at the disposal of GUP Mostransavto.

At the same time, a small batch of commuter cars was produced. These buses did not have a back door, the number of seats in them increased to 32. The first batch of 50 cars was sent to Sochi.

In total, since the beginning of production and up to the present, more than ten different modifications have been created at the Likino Automobile Plant, which successfully operate on urban and suburban routes in many Russian cities. On a separate production, a modification of LiAZ-5292-6274 (an experimental electric bus) is going. The machine is equipped with Liotech lithium batteries. Also at the Likinsky plant, a bus with the LiAZ-5292-71 gas engine was set up. These machines have been operating since 2010. However, no systemic defects were found, gradually all the cars returned to the streets of Moscow. Twenty-nine buses operate on the periphery, mainly in Khimki. Thirty vehicles on gas ply in Chelyabinsk, as much in St. Petersburg. At the end of 2015, a large batch of buses was sent to the Crimea, some of them work on urban routes in Simferopol, part is operated on the route Simferopol-Alushta.

The quality of Russian parts at this stage is not worse than imported ones, and the quality of steel even surpasses foreign counterparts.

A distinctive feature of the model is the integrated system of tilting the body towards the landing platform at the stops. This is done to facilitate the entry into the wheelchair wheelchair. From the underground space a special ramp is put forward, along which a passenger with disabilities enters. The bus meets all the requirements of operation in large cities.
