Let's find out what the mainsail is

In the world there are a lot of amazing places, the beauty of which simply fascinates. For each person, the most diverse objects are unique. So, someone prefers seascapes, others - the greatness of mountains, the rest is enough to just be in the forest to reunite with nature and feel happy. A truly unique place is considered to be the grotto - a cave, which has its own peculiarities and secrets.

Characteristics of the cave

In nature, a cave is a cavity in the upper part of the earth's crust, which has one or more holes. Long ago for people such unique gifts of nature were shelters. Today, caves are visited during excursions, or a person rarely when stumble upon them in the wild. Many are interested in what a grotto is. In fact, this is also a cave, but there is one important difference - it is shallow. In addition, the mainsail has a wide entrance, a vaulted ceiling and, as a rule, inside is similar to a large and spacious hall.

Features of the mainsail

Before the formation of the cave, certain events occur, which are the cause of the formation of grottos. The latter can appear as a result of erosion. With the erosion of ground waters, depressions with a narrow passage and a wide hall inside are formed. As a rule, grottoes can be found near the seas and rivers. Coastal surf is the main reason for their formation.

Particularly interesting is the question of what a grotto is, tourists who often meet with the creations of nature. So, in the desert you can find a small cave that was formed under the influence of wind erosion. As for the grottoes of karst origin, these are relict depressions. They arise on the basis of once huge and massive caves that have collapsed, and small fragments have remained, forming a unique grotto. It can be found near rocks or in limestone cliffs. In the karst grottoes you can find a source consisting of flowing streams.

Cave grotto

To get a better idea of what a grotto is, it is worth to visit the valley near the Salgir River (the territory of the Crimea). There is a unique cave Chokurcha, which was rightly called the oldest dwelling in Europe. In the times of the Soviet Union inside the grotto were found skeletons of Neanderthals and bones of mammoths. In addition, there were remains of ancient animals, such as a rhinoceros, a cave bear, a giant deer and a wild horse. The grotto stretched to fifteen meters deep. Photo of the cave today is a real rarity, but unique pictures show how ancient the walls and surrounding elements are.

Also interesting are the rock paintings, among which you can often see the image of the sun, fish and mammoths. In the middle of the nineteenth century, the grotto was awarded the status of a natural monument, the significance of which reached the world level. Unfortunately, today it is impossible to visit the cave of Chokurcha, because its condition is bad and dangerous for human life. Even if the mainsail is abandoned, everyone still remembers and dreams of visiting his gate.

The grotto is part of the cave

To immediately determine what a grotto is, just look around in the cave. It can be easily recognized by its abrupt origin. Since the mainsail can be eroded, which is most often destroyed by water, the rock begins to fall off gradually. The parts that have fallen to the ground are dissolved or carried away by the current. As a result, a void is formed.

Often you can find a park building, which is artificially close to the natural grotto. For the first time, Italians dared to imitate the cave, applying it in the garden and park area. And this is really a decoration of the whole landscape!
