Krasnodar Academic Drama Theater. Gorky was opened in 1920. Then it was called "First Soviet" and was named after Lunacharsky. Today the Drama Theater is considered the main center of culture in the Kuban. He is loved, popular and popular. In his repertoire of more than thirty productions. About the theater

Such outstanding creative personalities as Vsevolod Meyerhold, David Furmanov and Samuel Marshak were the ones who created the Krasnodar Academic Drama Theater. The name of M. Gorky, which the theater proudly wears today, was appropriated to him in 1932. It was then that his creative takeoff began. In the collective were collected artists of rare talent. The troupe began to be considered one of the best in the country among provincial ones.

During the Second World War, the Germans occupied Krasnodar. The artists were forced to evacuate in Sochi. There they gave performances and concerts. After their hometown was released, the actors returned home. They found the building of the theater lying in ruins. For a long time the troupe had to huddle in other people's premises.

In 1973, the collective moved to a new building, which inhabits to this day.

In 1980, in honor of the sixtieth anniversary, the theater was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

In the 90s the troupe began to take an active part in festivals and competitions, to go on tour. In 1996 the collective was awarded the academic status.

The Ministry of Culture of the Krasnodar Territory strongly supports the theater and all its undertakings.

"The Kuban Theater"

In 2016 the Krasnodar drama held a festival on its stage 15 times called "Kuban theatrical" on its stage. State and private professional troupes take part in it. Collectives must submit to the jury's court one of the new productions, which is in the repertoire for no more than two years.
