Thai Baht, or National Currency of Thailand

At present, Russians prefer to give rest in Thailand, rather than in Turkey and Egypt. And there are many reasons for this. The main one is the relative cheapness of rest with a relatively high level of service. Therefore, it is not surprising that many compatriots spend smiling Thai people in warm places, sometimes up to several months. The main issue for foreigners wishing to visit the paradise of the Andaman Sea is the monetary aspect, namely: what currency is in the country and is it possible on the spot to quickly and easily exchange payment means of other countries?

Royal payment means

Thai baht is the only national monetary unit of the country. The currency is issued by the Bank of Thailand. Each unit of the baht consists of a hundred satangs. The Thai currency has gone through long stages of its development and only in 1925 it acquired that name, which has reached our days. It is worth mentioning that the Thai baht changed several names, one of which was ticking. This is the most that neither is the original name of the national currency of the country. Such an inscription could be found on banknotes until the first quarter of the twentieth century. However, the Thai baht was mentioned long before establishing its strong position as a national currency. In the 19th century, banknotes with the same name were circulating on the territory of the country.

Atta, Fuangi, Satang and their "comrades"

It is noteworthy that both bat and tick are a measure of weight in Thailand. Silver or gold was measured exactly according to the units. Or by parts. Until the end of the 19th century, there was a measure of dividing the Thai baht into several intermediate units. So, the smallest of used was att. Eight of these units folded fuang, a similar number of which were already Thai baht. Now the only variable monetary units are satangs. In this case, these coins are struck only in two denominations - twenty-five and fifty units. It is noteworthy that these banknotes are practically not used in small shops and at market traders. In addition to satangs in circulation, there are coins with a face value of one, two, five and ten baht. There are denominations in the value of twenty, fifty, one hundred, five hundred and one thousand units.

In addition to satangs, atts and fuangs, the monetary system of Thailand used other smaller and larger payment units. For example, 128 solots folded one Thai baht. That is, each att has 2 smaller units. Four baht could easily be exchanged for one taleleung. Twenty banknotes of the last payment instrument were chang.

Stable currency of the tourist paradise

As it was already said above, until 1925 in the Kingdom of Thailand in circulation was ticking. Until the beginning of the twentieth century, each unit of this means of payment was reinforced with silver. At the same time, one tick was worth 15 grams of silver. It should be noted that the currency of this country is relatively stable. The highest rate of Thai baht to the dollar was established in 1998. The reason for this was the Asian financial crisis, which undermined the state of the Kingdom's economy. At that time, 56 Thai units were given for one American banknote. Economic reforms, the influx of tourists and the pursuit of their goals have brought Thailand to a high level of development. Gradually, the exchange rate of the bat has leveled out and at this stage it costs a little more than the Russian ruble. For one dollar now it is due about 32-33 payment units of this country. The rate of the Thai baht to the ruble is also at a stable level: for one ruble, the banks of the Kingdom give 0.97 baht.
