Koltushskoe Lake - an excellent place for rest and fishing (Leningrad region)

Location and natural features

The name Koltushskoe Lake owes to the village, which is located near the reservoir - Koltushi. The name of the settlement is derived from the Finnish word kelttu or geltu and is translated as "yellow".

The lake is located on the territory of the reserve "Koltushsky heights". This is a part of nature, partly of glacial origin. The most part of the protected area is the forest. Here there are rare, endangered animals and birds, such as garden oatmeal, gray partridge, hawk duck, hare hare. Koltushskoe Lake itself has become home to such a unique plant as the lobelia of Dortmann.

The forest belt in Koltushsky Lake is rich in cranberries, blueberries and lilies of the valley.
